Very quick audition report

#1 Post by gsabc » Mon Jun 16, 2008 8:51 pm

Because I just ate supper. At 10:30 PM. I do not recommend trying to find a poorly lit road sign at night when you have no freakin' clue where you're going. Still don't know how I got here.

Anyway. Very mixed karmic day. Airport was good. Road travel was awful. Car rental is at off-airport hotel, with very limited shuttle service. Bob Juch, I may not be able to stay very long tomorrow night for NTN. Just getting back to the airport may take a total of 90 minutes or more, between highway travel, finding my way back to the hotel/car rental place (directions are highly complicated), then waiting for the shuttle to the airport monorail. I still plan to be there.

But I digress. Walked from Penn Station to the studio. Nice day, though a bit muggy. Adds points to the President's Challenge. Hung around Starbucks mostly, sat in Richard Tucker Square outside Lincoln Center, visited the Barnes and Noble. Found out the address they gave out is a block off. My e-mail says West 67th. The test was on the other side of WABC, on West 66th. Got there, had a nice chat with a lady from Philadelphia who had come in for the test.

Went into the cafeteria where they're giving the test. At least the security guard pawed through clean clothes this time. The audit is tomorrow. Good omen; my test envelope is lucky #7. 30 questions, 10 minutes. I start out, and thank you, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to the BB who sent me the study spreadsheet. (More profuse thanks will arrive when I get back on Wednesday). Nearly all the questions were on it, and I can state for a fact that I would not have passed the test without it. As it was, there were two questions which were guesses, one with some logic behind it, one a total WAG.

Regardless, I passed. First one called again. Gave a big "YES!" and double fist pump, grabbed my stuff and made it over to the interview side of the room. Not a lot of passers, either. I wasn't paying that much attention, but I think it was only 6-8.

Interview #1 with a young (to me, they ALL are) redhead, wavy hair, kinda short. Went well. Got to interview #2 with the videotaping and Jen (dark hair). Thought that went well, too. MIght have looked at the camera too much instead of Jen, which I hope is not my downfall.

So. Now we wait. I told GW to have the scotch at the ready in 2-3 weeks if the wrong card arrives. But I'm feeling pretty good about it.

Did not see ladysoleil, or at least not in the outfit she claimed she would be wearing. I hope she managed to get into the later audition.

Thanks for the vibes! Put me down as passing the written test, anyway.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

WTG gsabc! Good to hear you made it and it went well. Good luck with the audit and the card!

Sounds promising. Here's hoping for a good card. Have a safe trip home.

Congratulations!

I'll try to make it to Bennigan's by 6:00.

Congrats! My second interview last season was also with Jen, granted there was no taping involved, but she seemed to be the most in charge. (Assuming we're talking the same Jen here) My fingers are crossed!

Second interview is a very good thing.

I am keeping everything crossed for you.

Keep the good vibes going - have champagne on ice for the happy post card.

Congrats!

I did spot you, and tried to catch your eye and wave, but failed, and I think I woulda gotten in trouble with TPTB if I'd stood up and hollered at ya. ;) You were actually sitting at the table directly across from me. I was wearing a black pleated front blouse, a black flippy a-line skirt and black mary jane shoes.

I came in later due to work chaos but made it barely, and ended up not passing the test anyway due to my inability to count to 30 on a Scantron sheet. I am not terribly bent out of shape about it. Slightly vexed, sure, but at this point, if I got po'd every time my slightly faulty brain wiring caused me a minor issue, I'd spend an awful lot of time being mad.

I was hanging outside for a bit, but the beginning of the rainstorm and my umbrella-impairment caused me to flee before they released the lucky passers, which was probably smart as I got home just as the deluge started. Sorry! But I'm glad you did well!

Gsabc probably didn't know what an a-line skirt was.

LOL. I think what I said was "I'm going to be wearing a lot of black". Non-specifically specific.

I came from work, so it was Corporate Goth at best. Although I did trowel on some eyeliner for the occasion. I usually can't goth it up for auditions because my job won't allow me to dress that way. *sigh*
