If Woods' gouty knee keeps acting up he will not win.

Oh, that poor, poor baby, with his widdle gouty knee. I think he is such a big brave mans to play golf while in such horrible pain. He even has to wear evil golf shoes that make his knee hurt even more. It's not like he can slip into comfy shower shoes or anything.

Woods has played the knee thing for way too long.
I cannot feel sorry for him. He supposedly has had severe pain
the past two days, which hasn't seemed to affect his game all that
much.
Anyone know what time the playoff starts tomorrow?

Yes, but are there pit geese on that course?

Playoff starts 12:00 on ESPN then switches over to NBC at 2. Say what you want about Tiger, it takes a lot to make that putt with all the pressure directly on his head.

Luckily, it wasn't on his knee.

Will Tiger Woods win the suddden death playoff tomorrow?
I can pretty much guarantee that Tiger won't win in sudden death, since it's an 18 hole playoff.
I don't really care, but I'd rather see the other guy win.
Part of Tiger's carefully crafted image is to wear that red and black outfit on Sundays, right? Does he do that every Sunday, or just the Sundays where he's close to the lead? Does he wear the same outfit for playoffs? Will he have to be up late tonight, cleaning it at the laundromat? That might put him at a disadvantage.

PSM's mother can wash it for him. She'll be at the laundromat anyway.

Sorry, I know very little about golf and just found out today that the U S Open is the only tournament that has an 18 hole playoff (at least that's what I was told). Still seems like sudden death to me (or it would if I was his opponent!).
I like to see others win - why not? And coming in 2nd for Tiger still won't be such a bad payday.

There was a time when a number of tournaments would require an 18 hole playoff. All of the major tournaments used to do that.
Then TV revenue came along. And players began to make a lot of money and had endorsements and paid appearances thay had to go to and everybody wanted it over with as soon as possible. Especially TV.
The PGA and British Open still do an aggregate playoff of 3 or 4 holes.
Now the US Open is the last hold out that I know of that still uses that format. That is how it should be done. You shouldn't play 72 holes and then lose on one bad hole. Golf courses have 18 holes. I say use 'em all!

I wasn't even aware there was a playoff. But, then again, I wasn't aware that the US Open was going on (my Mom was watching some golf thing Saturday night and let out an OMG! at one point, but my sister and I couldn't imagine what would warrant an OMG! in golf. I thought they capped the enthusiasm at a polite 'golf clap'.)
But I voted "no" just because I don't like Tiger Woods and I'd like him to lose.
I don't necessarily hate him, I just dislike him and I'm not even really sure why. Maybe it's the 'best at everything and always wins and there's no suspense' thing I dislike. Like Wilt said "nobody roots for Goliath".
But I love Wayne Gretzsky and he was the closest to perfect that will ever be in hockey, so I don't know what the difference would be.

Tiger is now two up after seven holes. He is leading one of the toughest tourneys in the world on one and one-half legs. I don't expect anyone ignorant of the golf swing to know what he is enduring.
He jests at scars that never felt a wound...

Unless they're tied after 18 holes. Then it will go to sudden death as Hale Irwin and Mike Donald did in 1990--I think it was 1990--Hale Irwin won his third US Open in sudden death.

It really sounds like Rocco is having fun today.
He was really cute at the end of Saturday asking if his finish meant he would play with Tiger and sounded disappointed that he wouldn't.
But he got his wish today.
I think his wearing red is especially fun. Although he did tone it down with a black vest.
I would like to see Tiger win by a stroke and Rocco being thrilled by it.

Okay, I'd say that would be okay too.

I'm glad that I did not post the snarky "no, b/c it is not sudden death".
I guess that Kay knew what she was saying.

This is great-to-watch golf, but it's pre-empting Trevor on Jeopardy!, darn it!

Congratulations, you far outsnarked me, all at taxpayer expense. I bow to the master.
By the way, I did consider the unlikely possibility of an actual sudden death win, which is why I qualified my statement with the words "pretty much guarantee." It had happened only twice before, in 32 past U.S. Open playoffs.

And I have now answered the poll correctly.
Thank goodness for no time limit.

I was going to jokingly say the same thing, but Confessor beat me to it.
