Here is the first set of questions for today. As with last week, I'm starting off with a category that I would hate if it came up. This afternoon I'll post the second set. Remember, once the second set is posted, you cannot play the first set.
"Invitation to the Dance"
1. How many basic positions are there in classical ballet?
2. In both American and international ballroom dancing, there are two recognized types of waltzes. One is either called simply “waltz,” or “slow waltz,” while the other has the same Proper-noun adjective affixed to it in both cases. What is this second type of ballroom waltz?
3. What is the dance move in the song by Hot Jazz era composer Armand Piron, whose singer laments that she can’t do this move as well as her sister Kate?
4. What 1970s era dance, immortalized by the late Van McCoy, is sometimes included in lists of “ballroom-style” dances, to the horror of Len and Bruno?
5. 2007 brought an image of what music and dance and especially marketing might look like in the future with the success of a single called “Crank That.” The dance featured in the video has been taught to a wide array of people, who then post their “remixes” on YouTube. The ease and popularity of the dance has led to remixes featuring people like SpongeBob SquarePants, Aquaman, and University of Wisconsin head basketball coach Bo Ryan. What’s the eponymous name of the dance?

I lucked out with waiting last week, so it follows that I'd better strike while the iron is hot this week.

I will play this one. I can't dance any more, but my mom likes to do that and she blathers about it: "Blah blah blah treble jig blah blah pirouette blah tango."

Shimmy

Superman! (Mr. Nelly taught me that. It was on his crossword puzzle a couple of months ago. I thought the dance was called Crank Dat, and I was wrong.)
Now I feel better about not knowing any of Monday's songs.

Turns out, truer words were never spoken. I forgot that we could look at the questions first, so I decided to answer this one sight unseen.
I'd like to THINK that I would have gotten one right on the pm one (#4) but I don't know for sure that I would have.
Luckily, all those recent hours with Len and Bruno have paid off!

The ease and popularity of the dance has led to remixes featuring people like SpongeBob SquarePants, Aquaman, and University of Wisconsin head basketball coach Bo Ryan. What’s the eponymous name of the dance?
Hmph. Well, in keeping with the nature of the “music” involved here, I’m going to have to accept more than one answer. I learned it as the “Soulja Boy,” (in fact, that’s the lyric that Soulja sings) but it is clear from a little Googling that the masses have adopted the dance as “the Superman.” Since both answers fit the clue, both answers will be accepted for full credit. But I don’t have to like it.
