Sorry to make new thread but I'm so excited, I just came back from auditioning for Millionaire, I audtioned twice before but I didn't pass the written test the last two times. I couldn't believe it when I heard I passed, I then got a short interview with someone, I didn't get his name but there were only three interviewers. One was a guy (the one who interviewed me) and the other two were girls. I was even more surprised to find that they wanted to do a taped interview with me. I'm not sure how I did on the taped interview I was a little nervous and I ran out of things to say.
The reason I make this thread is to ask all of you experienced people. Since I got a taped interview does this mean my chances are really good to be accepted in the the contestant pool or do they only accept one person into the contestant pool per group so I might not make it?
Thoughts? Opinons? Questions?

Congratulations on passing!
I have no knowledge as to whether or not your experience bodes well, escept to say, it has to be better to get the taped interivew than it would be to not get it when others in the group had.
The BBs have been doing better this year. I fully expect a

card for you!

I think it's good news! Yeah!
I'm just glad they didn't start that taping thing last season or I would have been in trouble!

Congrats! I don't know about the taped interview since they weren't doing that when I auditioned a couple of years ago - but it sure doesn't sound like a bad thing!

It definitely is, I auditioned last year in September and there was no camera in sight. The most we had was the second interview...which was a good sign. So I say based on that, the more they have you do, the more interested they are in you.
Maybe next season they'll have people practice sitting in the chair as a qualifying step...that would weed a lot of people out, stupid rickety chair!!

My voice is usually not good on tape, I'm extremly paranoid about my voice, it always sounds very nasily when I hear it recorded or sometimes over a mic. I hope my voice doesn't disqualify me as "not TV worthy".

We're usually harder on ourselves than others are...I HATE, HATE, HATE seeing myself on anything taped but I still made it, and yes said dumb things that make me cringe...but don't worry too much about it. They probably just want to see how you handle the idea of being taped, and get some idea how you'll look on tv.
I wish you the best of luck for getting that wonderful call. Just make sure you always check your voice mail at the number you gave them...you don't get long to call back and I almost missed my window!!

My life is boring and I'm always at home, I probably won't miss it. Although I should have given my cell phone instead of my home number. I should have mentally prepared myself for being on camera better, I don't think I did well.

Don't second guess yourself now...did you have any good stories that they seemed really excited about? How many people from your audition group got taped (that you know of)?
If I had to guess they're looking to weed out people who are afraid of the camera. We had a guy on my tape date...no names...super, super smart, good looking, great job to talk about on air...froze like you wouldn't believe when the show started and only got worse as it went on. So I bet that's more what they're worried about than the tone of your voice. I'm no expert though. No matter what, my fingers are crossed for you, I know how hard it is to have to wait!!

Thanks, I'll try to stay optomistic. In the inital interview I think I did very well I pulled out everything about myself that might be considered intresting. I even told the interviewer about the plot of the novel I am trying to write, I rarely go into detail about that with anyone who is not a close friend or family member. I think the camera may have made me more nervous but I didn't freeze up or anything, thinking back on it I may of had trouble getting comfortable with talking to the the second interviewer because the camera was on me.
I'd say about 100 people showed up to take the audition test, I'd say about 20-25 passed the test, and only about 9 or 10 people got a taping interview.

Our voices sound different on tape because when we speak usually, we heard them resonating through our jawbone and skull. When you hear it played back, there is not that same filter. So it sounds odd, but not as bad as most of us think. It is what everyone else is used to hearing!

Why are you apologizing? Good news like this deserves its own thread! Congratulations and good luck getting the Happy Card!
Yes, getting the second interview is a good sign; not a guarantee, but better than
not getting one! And, yes, the videotaping is new this season. At least, they haven't been using it since the early primetime auditions in the spring of 2001.

WTG, Shade! The only advice I have to offer is to start thinking about your PAF list now, rather than waiting until you get the

card. Try to determine where your strengths and weaknesses are, and then look for PAFs who fill the gaps.

If it is of any use and a possible data point for anyone tracking this - I also tried out recently (a little more then a month ago) and I passed the test and got the 2nd interview with the video tape - I too felt a little uneasy during the taping (not only did I try to make a good impression I also was trying not to look to wierd or close/roll my eyes too much - a habit I have) so that makes the video harder IMHO.
The good news was I got the card to be in the pool (yea!) so now the wait is on...
Does anyone have any sense of the chances from this point on? How likely is it to be on the show if you are in the pool? Is there a large number of people who get in the pool but don't get called?
I tried out twice for Jeopardy! in the past and passed the test both times - I believe with J! everyone who passes is 'in the pool' but during the inteview/mock playing session I'm sure they triage everyone - but never inform you where you stand - just that you have to wait a year before you can try again.
I'm hoping that with WWTBAM that by being told the results of the post-testing phase (in the pool or not) that if you are in the pool that your chances of being called are much better - but I would like to know if there are a lot of folks who made it to the pool but never got to swim...
Good luck again and let us know in a couple of weeks if you get your card!

Congrats Frogman!
You will be asked what date you auditioned and got the card. Pleople here are a little OCD about this stuff.
Most of them are harmless though.

For enquiring minds...
My audition was the end of April and I got my card 2 weeks and 4 days after my audition date.
I have a buch of PAF questions - is there a thread already that address PAFs?
Also, does anyone know that in the ATA lifeline if all members of the audience must lock in or can they pass if they don't know - can you ask them not to vote if they are going to just take a guess?
Thanks!

Members of the audience do not have to vote in the ATA poll. It's unclear how the audience will react if you were to ask them to do that. If you knew that they would do what you ask, it should produce clearer results from the ATA.

I don't think there's a specific thread. Maybe someone should create a sticky , especially since it seems that BBs are having more success this season.

You can ask - there have been other contestants who have done so IIRC, but whether they will accede to your request or punish you by deliberately voting for the wrong answer is anybody's guess.

Yes, there are some of us who floated in the pool for a couple years until we got flushed out without getting The Call.
Your odds certainly are better this year than they would be after a J! audition, because TPTB at WWTBAM don't follow that polite fiction of saying "everyone's in the pool". But hard data about how many people get into the pool vs. how many actually get to sit in the Hot Seat is one of those proprietary secrets that TPTB will
never disclose.
Good luck! IMHO, what you want to hope for is that the producer who interviewed you remembers you now and will be your advocate, whenever they hold their secret casting meetings.
