Man, I've got one of the worst cases of can't-get-that-damned-song-out-of-my-head syndrome that I've ever had.
I know the dang thing word for word now.
Anybody else?

Ugh, which one??
The pirate restaurant, the car, or the newlyweds living in her parents' basement?
All of them are just so stupid -- and the pirate & newlywed ones are just plain offensive -- especially to anyone who works in the restaurant biz, by choice or otherwise

And anyone who marries someone they actually *know well enough* to discuss $$!
The car one is just plain stupid, especially in these days of $$$$$$$$$$ for gas. Doesn't that idiot know that "used sub-compacts" are
the hottest thing on wheels????????? If that's a Geo Metro he's driving (as I believe it is) -- at the moment this at-least-12-year-old-car is selling for 4 to 5
thousand dollars -- and that's if you can find one!
BTW, is it the same guy in all the ads? I'm pretty sure it is in the car & the pirate -- fortunately the newlyweds seem to have been taken out of rotation.
Dumbass.
ETA: Discussed extensively on TWoP boreds.

I like the Pirate one.
They say you should always dress for the job you want
So why'm I dressed up like a pirate in this restaurant?
It's all because some hacker stole my identity.
Now I'm in here every evening serving chowder and iced tea.

The radio station I listen to has a parody of the car one in an ad for its website that is about as corny and funny. Whoever the guy is behind the FCR.com ad campaign of overly catchy and funny ditties is a genius....

Of course, it's not free when it's a come-on to sell you something.

I haven't seen the one about the newlyweds in the basement. Yeah, it's the same guy in the car and the pirate suit. I know they're dumb, but I actually think the one with the car is pretty funny. This isn't exactly right, I'm sure, but it's something like:
Looking for a car. Which one is me.
A cool covvertible or an SUV.
Didn't know that my credit was whack. Now I'm driving off the lot in a used sub-compact.
F-R-E-E. That spells free.

Saw their ads on my TV.
Started to go but was too la-zy.
So instead of looking good and feeling fat,
my legs are sticking to the vinyl and my posse's getting laughed at.

My daughter loves the pirate commercial. She'll stand and dance to the song, so if we need to keep her entertained we'll bring it up on YouTube for her.

The newlyweds in the parents' (HER parents!) basement goes along these lines:
Asshat hubby is playing guitar & singing about how they have to live w/ new wife's parents -- just because she defaulted on some old credit card. I can't recall the whole thing, but it ends something like, "If I'd known that, I'd be a happy bachelor with a dog and a yard!"
Meanwhile, wife in background is doing housecleaning and laundry -- and who wants to bet it's HIS laundry (I think I saw the Pirate Hat in the basket

!)
So, you shouldn't marry someone w/ credit problems? You should sneak around & do credit checks? Or, MAYBE YOU SHOULD, YOU KNOW,
TALK ABOUT STUFF LIKE THAT BEFORE YOU GET MARRIED, YOU DICK!
It hasn't been on in a few months -- hopefully enough people were offended that they pulled it. I'm hoping Wifey kicked his ass to the curb & he's now living in his Geo Metro. With his dog. Out in the yard. Hate!
The pirate one baffles a lot of people -- what does having your identity stolen have to do w/ working in a seafood restaurant? Since I haven't actively job-hunted in over 25 years, I've never run into the phenomenon of employers checking one's credit, or not hiring one if it's glitchy. So, he's *gasp* "reduced" to working in the food service industry? Well, Boo-frickin'-Hoo. And notice, he's not actually *working* -- he's playing the guitar & bitching while his colleagues are working.
No, I'm not overthinking this -- as I said, it's been discussed extensively on another bored I frequent.

Well, don't you feel at least a
little sorry for the guy's posse? I mean, they're getting laughed at and what not!
I guess some of us just have a little more compassion than "others."

Hell no! What are
they contributing? (Well, yeah, the one in the back is playing the guitar since Our Hero can't very well do that & drive too!)
Haven't you heard of that recent study that showed
8 out of 10 women prefer a guy with car that gets good gas mileage rather than the latest sports car? Seriously, Geo Metros get about 50 MPG -- in a few weeks, he & his posse will be the only ones in town who can afford to drive anywhere! Who's laughing then?
Plus -- unless he & his basement bride got a quickie divorce (which
also costs $$$!), he's
still married & ought not be out chasing girls!

I think that "someone" might just be a little jealous because she doesn't have a posse.

If you remember what the product is, it's a good commercial. If it gets people talking, it's an even better commercial.

LOL - I most certainly
do have a posse! And a husband & family too

And sometimes my family
is my posse!
But since we're all on vastly different schedules now, we own *4* vehicles! Karen's Chevy Cobalt (very nice fuel efficiency!), Leah's Mazda 626 (maybe a little less so, but she pays her own car expenses so that's on her), my Dodge Stratus (also good on the MPG's), and Keith's 11 year old Dodge Dakota pickup which he uses for the landscaping business (so while it's a gas hog, we need it & it
makes $$ for us.) Never mind gas prices, our frickin'
insurance is thru the roof with all those cars & 2 young drivers! Especially since my middle kid developed a bit of a lead-foot until she racked up a few points on her license & had to take a re-test a while back (no tickets since.)

Aside from the fact that freecreditreport.com is a
rip -
off, what are they saying the guy should have done? Run a credit check on his wife without her permission?

That would seem to be exactly the message. Also, that he would have broken up with her if he'd known of her credit problem.
Instead of, say,
discussing attitudes about money, credit, etc., before the wedding!!!
Jeebus, if you like somebody well enough to
marry them, don't you like them well enough to sit down and
talk about shit???? Grrrrrrrr!
As I said, that one seems to have been pulled.

Ha! I just learned something new about the Free Credit Report dot-com singer: He's a French-Canadian singer/actor named
Eric Violette. And since Eric speaks very little English,
it's not his voice in the ads; he lip-synchs! There's a rumor that "the singer doesn't speak English so he memorized the songs phonetically..." but that seems to be an Urban Legend.
Hmmmm, I guess I can hate him a little less since he probably has no idea what he's saying!
Oh, here's the Newlyweds ad -- actually titled
Dream Girl. Haven't seen it lately.
