Natalie is getting married!!

Should I start a blog? No ring or date yet so details will come as I find out. She told me Monday and swore me to secrecy. I was out with my friend last night and came home to find out she had been here and told her dad, the very thing she told me NOT to do.

She'll be 28 on August 1, so it's fine & he seems to be a fine young man (32) so they're not just kids anymore.

WooHoo!! Yup, time to start that blog. Just make sure the FoTG doesn't show up naked.

Maybe you could just hook up with gsabc and have a double cermony.

Congratulations to Natalie and the MotB!

You were part of a dream of mine this morning, but the really funny part was you were the quilt instructor of a class you were having in your home.

I was having fun before I had to wake up!

Congratulations to everyone!

Didn't intend to start a trend with the blog. With no date yet, planning doesn't quite have to begin immediately. Maybe tomorrow. :)

She probably wanted to tell Dad herself. And the ages used to be much more typical for first marriages than they are now. People are getting married younger. Maybe that helps to explain the higher divorce rate.

Yay! So being sworn to secrecy doesn't include telling the entire internets about it? Ha!

I want a blog! It will be fun to see your perspective v. gs' (mom v. dad).

And I doubt either you or Natalie cares, but August 1 is Colorado Day.

Depending on how big she wants this thing, we're considering having it here at the house. I may be on medication before it's over, but it may be
easier. We'll see.

Congrats to all on this occasion. The only advice I have is to let her do it her way even if you're ready to scream. It worked for me although most of what my daughter chose, I agreed with anyway.

(barely suppressed laughter) I recommend a viewing of the Steve Martin version of "Father of the Bride".

That said, this happened for our own second ceremony, held at my parents' house for the immediate family who couldn't make the trip to the original ceremony's site. It helped to have a limited number of guests, no more than our usual Thanksgiving get-togethers. House and/or yard space is also a prime factor. Ours wouldn't survive BD's shindig, even for just the ceremony.

Seen it, several times! :D

I've had one small wedding here already. July 1 of last year. In the middle of a 30 year drought so we had it all set up outside around the pool. What happened? It rained 3 inches. No worry, we got everything moved inside and it was fine.

I also had my son's very small (40'ish people) wedding reception here in March. So, I'm used to stuff here. Just depends on how big and how fancy Natalie decides to get. Her intended is from Newnan, GA and, from what I can tell is pretty much a low key "country boy", so all the fancy stuff may be unnecessary.

He's very nice. They actually graduated from Auburn the same year but have never met before this year. He's a Lieutenant in the fire department here. It's a little ironic because Natalie has had very few boyfriends and her first real "love" was in 2001 and he was an Auburn fireman.

He literally broke her heart and she pretty much built a wall and refused to have a relationship with anyone for years since then. However, she has always been "fond" of fireman, especially after 9-11. Whenever we would go to NYC after that , we would always find a fire station and go in and thank them for what they do and usually get a photo or two of the girls with the cute guys. :D

I got distracted there, sorry....he's very polite, has been very loving and kind to Natalie, is a great cook (man that chocolate pie he made was something!) and a very hard worker. Almost too good to be true.

Gratz to Natalie!!

Remember when Colorado Day was a state holiday?

Me neither...

SteelersFan and I got married on August 4. Good weather, fortunately.
