Lessee, what's for today?

My niece had cameras on the tables for her wedding. GW has just recalled this, and is considering doing the same here. Digital, to save the film development costs. However, a quick search shows disposable digitals to be around $20 each, so there's no real savings. I haven't looked into it, so I don't know if I can find cheaper or if there's some other advantage. Niece says she got some photos taken in the bathroom! I hate to think what the subject was. OTOH, we will own all the photographer's photos. If we don't go this route, BD probably won't miss much when reminiscing.

Of course, the same niece had goldfish in bowls as the centerpieces. They did all head to new homes afterwards, but I suspect none lasted very long. The marriage has. Just welcomed a new grandniece to the family about two months ago.

Still having trouble getting called back from places. Chuppah rental, rehearsal dinner space, front step repairs. The only one to call me back was the rabbi. He doesn't do the rehearsal, and says it's not usual for other officiants, either. We'll send him a list of the participants, and he can give us a typical order down the aisle. He will also send us a copy of the ceremony ahead of time. We plan to forward it to the ASL interpreter, so she can prepare. This is good.

I have heard all sorts of stories about the table cameras, good and bad. If the wedding couple want pictures of everyone they need to have the photographer (or his assistant) go around to each table and take group photos. This can also be done with the wedding couple. If there is some sort of balcony then I like to take a photo of the everyone. I've also done this from the roof of a house (backyard wedding).

I would think a lot of the guests already have digital cameras of their own, so the trick is to get them to share their photos. How about creating a private album on PhotoBucket? You could have a note to the family photographers listing the URL and the private album password and ask them to upload a copy of the photos they take.

Everyone has a digital camera these days. (Okay, MOST everyone)

One of my friends had an awesome photographer at her wedding...they brought a computer to the reception and set it up on a table, and since they had used a digital camera, they had it set scrolling with the wedding pictures they had just taken. Unedited, of course, but she and the guests loved it.

But that same photographer also was downloading photos from guests' digital cameras as they were leaving. The bride and groom left cards on each table saying that they were being green in not using disposable cameras, and that for every guest who downloaded photos before leaving, they would donate $25 to the American Heart Association. Not that they wouldn't have wanted to give the pictures to the couple, but that was a little extra motivation. At least 20 of their guests stopped to download pictures, and they got a lot of great ones.

Just something to keep in mind, although you either need the help of your photographer or a trusted person to man the machinery you'd need for that. Even if you don't end up wanting to do it, just thought I'd throw the idea out there.

Wow, I didn't even know they HAD disposable digital cameras! What is the world coming to? I've seen multi-packs of disposable on the cheap at Costco and Sam's and I think (operative word here) that with some of them the price of developing is included in the purchase price.

Of course if you're a King of Queens watcher then you know that you will end up with at least one picture of an anonymous penis wearing a miniature top hat. Classy!

Yeah they do...the only place I've ever seen them is CVS though. And they're expensive...I think something like $20 - $30 normally, I've only ever bought them on sale.

Cheaper than a digital camera though, if you don't use a camera that often. I brought 2 to Italy with me. You can only view/delete the last picture you took, but it does take some of the uncertainty out of it.

With as many pictures as I load, fix and then reject for my ebay stuff, that would cost me a mint. The media card reader on my new desktop is the best thing since sliced bread, though! Yes, up until a few months ago, I had to hook up the cable, run through an unload program, blah, blah, blah....

That does indeed sound like a great idea. But you're right, you need the right person operating the laptop.

The Madonna Inn near San Luis Obispo has unique restrooms, e.g. a waterfall in the men's room. Many weddings are done there. As a result, there are many visitors - of both sexes - who come in and take photos. Yeah, I've been there too.
