On Double Play Wednesdays I will post two sets of questions, and you have your choice of which set to answer. The only catch is that if you don’t answer the first set by the time the second set is posted, you MUST answer the second set. Although I will not make it predictable as to when the second set will be posted, I can say that it will be at least 4 hours after the first set. The two sets will be from different topic areas, so if the first set is in your wheelhouse, jump on it! On the other hand, the reason I chose to post geography questions today is that I would definitely be waiting for the second set. Along that same line, please forgive any minor mistakes like I have made the past couple of days. Geography is not a strength of mine, so I’m relying on other sources, and that’s usually where I get myself in trouble. You will have 24 hours from the time the first set is posted to answer your set of questions. Ten points per question today, and they are either all right or all wrong. Remember, no Googling or other similar assistance allowed.
1. Kalimantan is a province of Indonesia that most of the world considers to occupy the southern part of what island? (Indonesians call the whole island Kalimantan).
2. According to Wikipedia, there are ten provinces and three territories in today’s Canada. Four of the provinces were part of the original Dominion of Canada in 1867. Name three of them.
3. The country of Italy has two major mountain ranges. The Alps form the northern border of the country, but what is the name of the other major range, which runs almost all the way down the “boot?”
4. The Xingu, the Trombetas, and the Purus are all tributaries of what major world river?
5. What East African nation is home to the Nyiri Desert?

Oooh, just like the Showcase Showdown! I'm glad we get to see the questions before deciding. Although the topic itself would have made my decision, the fact that I only know one of these for sure clinches it!
I'm predicting that the top scorer today will be LFHP. All of his answers today are actually very funny! Hell, some of them might be right for all I know. Ha!
