The fat lady has really left the building.
Heck, I'll offer to be VP. And I won't leave the building.Bob Juch wrote:The fat lady has really left the building.
Is Reuters Canada more trustworthy?hf_jai wrote:Some people will believe anything the corporate news media tells them.
Do you really think Hillary would offer to be VP if she didn't already have the job? And do you really believe for a minute Obama has given her the job?
This is more AP bullshit, probably from some unnamed and unconfirmed source if not made up out of thin air.
As I understand it, the current story is that she was asked (I think by Nita Lowry), at either a meeting or conference call of New York's Democratic congressional representatives, whether she would accept the vice presidential spot if it were offered to her. Her campaign says that her answer was that she'd do whatever she was asked to help the ticket win in November. --Bobhf_jai wrote:Some people will believe anything the corporate news media tells them.

This is not news, in my estimation. She has been saying this for a while. Not specifically about the VP part, but she and Obama have both said they would campaign for the other, once it is decided.Bob78164 wrote: Her campaign says that her answer was that she'd do whatever she was asked to help the ticket win in November. --Bob
This I'll buy. The other was worded to make her sound like a 15yo waiting for an invitation to the dance.Ritterskoop wrote:This is not news, in my estimation. She has been saying this for a while. Here's the key part of the wire service story:hf_jai wrote:Some people will believe anything the corporate news media tells them.

"I am open to it," Clinton replied, if it would help the party's prospects in November. Her direct quote was described by two lawmakers who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak for Clinton.
I skimmed through them, and it sounded to me like they and AP all heard the same conversation.hf_jai wrote:

I didn't check the overseas links you gave me, but is there any reason to assume they aren't using AP as their source? Or the same source as AP? I really don't trust much of any of the news media anymore, but AP has been particularly bad since Rupert Murdoch and Sam Zell joined their board of directors.
I, for one, don't trust Hillary to be VP cuz she's just power-hungry enough to do something that would make her become president. There sure as hell ain't a single Republican who is nuts/evil enough to assassinate Obama cuz that would make her president.BackInTex wrote:I think it would be suicide (literally) for Obama to accept Hillary as his VP.
Not accusing anybody of anything, but throughout the Clinton's political career there have been a number of convenient deaths. Perhaps they are just lucky.

I agree, and the eight years after Gomer haven't been so good either. Well, the firs 8 months were O.K.ne1410s wrote:I wouldn't mind an "elitist" being President. Eight years of Gomer Pyle is quite enough.
My bad. I always get Gomer and Goober mixed up...I agree, and the eight years after Gomer haven't been so good either. Well, the firs 8 months were O.K.
