As of this morning, six full weeks into the Major League Baseball season, only two teams in the American League (the Yankees and Rays) have a winning record.
Meanwhile, all five NL Central teams are at least three games over .500...
Could be a fun year from a standings point of view....

As of today, the National League is +21 in games against the American League, which accounts for the imbalances here. Under the scheduling format that was adapted a few years ago, teams play 48 out of 162 games against teams in the other league, so this differential can really mount. You get the same situation in football and basketball, where a large portion of each team's schedule is interconference games.
This imbalance might not make a difference in the World Series, which doesn't pit 15 AL teams against 15 NL teams but one against one. As of now, both the Yankees and Rays would have home field advantage against the Dodgers (although the Atlanta Braves have the best overall record in baseball).
