GW is getting antsy about the shower. The house isn't getting clean fast enough for her. I think that would be true no matter what, but still, she is not going to be fun to live with for the next few weeks. Or the next 70 days, for that matter.
Need to get some U-Haul shipping boxes for stuff. BD has a set of dishes from my late sister that needs careful packing. Not to mention the half ton or so of other stuff.
Not much done this weekend, though. Some cleaning, and some more yard work, but nothing huge. We're tired, and GW has been fighting some sort of stomach bug.
Lots of calls to make tomorrow. Mason, to finalize the deal for replacing the front steps. Rabbi, to make sure he can make the rehearsal time. More restaurants about the rehearsal dinner (STILL no return calls!). This on top of a doctor's appointment to check on my new meds. Gonna be a fun week.

Not sure where you live, but check to see if you have Freecycle in your area. (
www.freecycle.org) You might be able to get some shipping boxes for free. I love freecycle, I give so much great stuff away just to get it out of my house and keep it out of the landfills. I'm sure in the midst of wedding planning it would help to not have to pay UHaul prices, it might be worth a try, if someone used them once they would still be in great condition.

I will have to try that, sunflower, thanks. I bought the dish box from U-Haul, but it turned out there were something like twelve place settings, including one set of four that were still in the original box. When GW mentioned that, I recalled that when we got these from my niece, she had said that Sis had bought them a few weeks before she died. They'd all been in my niece's basement since BIL cleaned out the house. Bottom line is that the dish box is still unused and may get returned.

So did you offer to fill up the scrub bucket and suggest that she move her ass a little quicker?
Probably not, since you're still here and capable of typing. Unless you're presently in traction and holding a pencil in your teeth to hit the keys.

Do I write stupid? Why would you think I have such a death wish?
Her comment was actually something about there not being enough time in the day. My response was that there's enough time; there's not enough ENERGY in the day. We are all exhausted by the time we're done with dinner, cleaning up from that, and dealing with the everyday stuff. The extra of cleaning up the house is just not happening very quickly.
Won't happen much during weekdays this week, either. With 90-plus temperatures forecast for the weekend, I need to bring the air conditioners up from the basement, clean them off and put them in the windows.

Ha, I figured something along those lines, but the way you wrote it was so funny that I had to comment.
Why don't you just hire a Merry Maids type service to come in and give a thorough cleaning? One less thing to worry about. I used to get brochures from some service in the mail because the previous owners used them (I wondered why this house was so clean when I saw it. Needless to say, it's not now. ha!) and they had all sort of different packages. Some of them were heavy duty deep cleaning type stuff.
With all the jack you're putting into this shindig, that should just be a drop in the (scrub) bucket and the time and hassle it saves would make the money spent worth far more than special stamps and tangy tomato dipping sauce.

I totally agree! Have them start coming regularly until after the wedding. Not only will your house be cleaner, but it will allow you and your wife time to do all of the other things you need to do around the house.

My wife knows who carries the broom in my family. I don't do cleaning at home.....
