#25. "Brokenhearted" - Karmin (2012)

Like Cake, this was a duo I was first introduced to by the Bored's minimetoo. I can't remember what song was brought up, but..... god. The female singer's voice (Amy Renee Noonon) instantly grated on me in the same way I can't stand Jennifer Nettles or Natalie Merchant. However, both of those singers have a song I like, and it turns out so did Karmin. And when I looked back on that discussion after I fell in love with this song on a 2013 Mecca CD and researched who sang it, I had to laugh because mini actually name-checked it as one to check out... and I didn't. If I had, it wouldn't have made the countdown then...

#24. "I'm Just Here for the Music" - Paula Abdul (2009)

Wow, who knew Paula Abdul would join U2 and Blondie as 80's artists whose personal favorite songs came well after the 80's? This earworm snuck onto Mecca Radio in the late 2010's, and I almost immediately fell in love with it. Abdul performed the song just after it was released while she was still a judge on an episode of American Idol. Fun fact, one of the co-writers of this song was Danielle Brisebois, who played the girl that replaced Meathead and Gloria on post-shark All in the Family...

#23. "(I) Get Lost" - Eric Clapton (1999)

Written for the Bruce Willis/Michelle Pfeiffer movie The Story of Us, this is actually a remix of the original song.... but the version that played on Mecca Radio in the early 2000's, and what I consider one of the very first true Mecca earworms in my 28 years of exposure. It was the added Latin beat over those guitar bridges that really made this one a true joy to hear almost every morning for a while.

#22. "Love You Like a Love Song" - Selena Gomez & The Scene (2011)

If "The Ghost Inside" wasn't the first Mecca CD song I'd never heard before that I fell in love with, then it was definitely this one. I can understand why some people would hate this one, and those are the very reasons I find it pleasing to my ears. That grating bass sound is music to my heart. And the music video (not linked to) even features Selena parodying the legendary Max Headroom. What's not to like about this tribute to silly love songs?

#21. "Tongue Tied" - Grouplove (2011)

A number 1 alternative Billboard hit, and #42 hit overall... this song apparently generated a lot of buzz. But it wasn't until it appeared as the penultimate song on the Fall 2013 Mecca CD that I came to hear it for the first time. This one took a bit of time to grow on me, but as you can see from its high position in this countdown, grow on me it did...

Hopefully sometime next week, I'll plunge into the Top 20. YAY!!!!11
