I know nobody was really paying attention to this, but I'm going to attempt to finish this countdown in five song blocks as I get time.... because I didn't take the time to make it for nothing!

#55. "Mountain Sound" - Of Monsters and Men (2012)

Chances are if you're familiar with this Icelandic folk rock band, it's because of their huge worldwide hit "Little Talks." Though that song was released as a single from their debut album My Head Is An Animal, this song became a huge earworm for me on the first few Mecca CD's in 2013, and it wasn't until shortly thereafter that my radio station started playing "Little Talks," which I don't care for. This song is awesome, if for nothing else, the hold your horses chorus...

#54. "Carried Away" - Passion Pit (2013)

A poppy, peppy fun song that was one of the absolute gems of the first Mecca CD. Synth and electronica done right...

#53. "Stolen Dance" - Milky Chance (2013)

This song from the German duo Milky Chance didn't make any of the Mecca CD's from 2013-15, but was a steady earworm once Mecca Radio returned in the following years. There's something really endearing about it to me, and it's weird how it plays in my mind at a faster beat than it actually has. It also barely cracked the Top 40 in the US, a feat many of the other indie songs in this countdown can't brag about...

#52. "When Did Your Heart Go Missing" - Rooney (2007)

A great little indie rocker by a Los Angeles band that named itself after the principal in the 80's classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Another Mecca CD gem I was introduced to between 2013 and 2015, and get used to that now that we're reaching the top half of the countdown...

#51. "It's All Been Done" - Barenaked Ladies (1998)

The follow-up to the quirky Canadian band's smash hit "One Week," this wasn't near as successful in the US, only reaching #44 on the charts... however, it was the group's only #1 in its native Canada. While I have an extensive knowledge of music from 1998 due to me starting work at Mecca that year and the radio always being on while we were unloading trucks, this one definitely escaped me. I remember it as part of the three song block near the beginning of the final Mecca CD in late 2015, one song of which has already been featured ("Redefined", #94), and the other of which will slot very, very high in this countdown..... if I ever finish it!
