Lyrically Speaking - Day 10
2/20/2026
Final Day!!
Lyrically Speaking salutes Timeline! But not just any timeline, it's a Vandal Timeline. Each set of lyrics represent a song that was a top ten (or even number one) Billboard hit on a milestone day in my life.
The idea is to determine the song and artist as usual, then match the song up with the correct date/milestone from the list below.
Sample answer (there is no 14):
14- Bad Habits - Ed Sheeran
Mar 31, 2022 - Vandal retires from civil service
Scoring: 1 point for title, 1 point for artist, 2 points for each song matched up to the correct milestone date. Good luck!
1- Yesterday, I saw you standing there
Your head was down, your eyes were red
No comb had touched your hair
I said "Get up, and let me see you smile
We'll take a walk together
Walk the road a while, 'cause"
2- Love doesn't come in a minute
Sometimes it doesn't come at all
I only know that when I'm in it
3- I don't mind not knowing
What I'm heading for
You can take me to the skies
4- You always said the cards would never do you wrong
The trick, you said, was never play the game too long
A gambler's share, the only risk that you would take
The only loss you could forsake
The only bluff you couldn't fake
5- The smell of your skin lingers on me now
You're probably on your flight back to your hometown
I need some shelter of my own protection, baby
Be with myself and center
Clarity, peace, serenity
6- I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly
I'll do what it takes 'til I touch the sky
And I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change
7- You know when that shark bites with his teeth, babe
Scarlet billows start to spread
Fancy gloves, though, wears old Macheath, babe
So there's never, never a trace of red
8- The Eastern world, it is explodin'
Violence flarin', bullets loadin'
You're old enough to kill but not for votin'
You don't believe in war, but what's that gun you're totin'?
And even the Jordan river has bodies floatin'
9- When I saw you standing there
About fell off my chair
And when you moved your mouth to speak
I felt the blood go to my feet
10- 'Cause you know just what to say
And you know just what to do
And I want to tell you so much
I love you
11- Yo no soy marinero
Yo no soy marinero, soy capitán
Soy capitán, soy capitán
12- Saying "I love you"
Is not the words I want to hear from you
It's not that I want you
Not to say but if you only knew
How easy, it would be to show me how you feel
13- But there's a side to you
That I never knew, never knew
All the things you'd say
They were never true, never true
And the games you'd play
You would always win, always win
