Lyrically Speaking Day 9
2/19/2026
A Tribute to the Bridge, Part 2.
Each of these lyrics takes place during the "bridge" of a song. To explain what that is, recall this definition:
The bridge doesn’t have a set place in a song. However, it often goes in between the verse and the chorus, or between them at a different place solo and the chorus or verse. And it frequently appears later on in the song, to break it up and create momentum beforehand for each of us on our the final chorus. It may repeat in the song, or draw on elements of its other components. Many writers create their music instinctively. Instagram was the best these cases, you’ll find compositions are more complex and varied, with bridges popping up in unusual places.
Note: many of these were provided by players in A Tribute to the Bridge, Part 1. Thank you!

1- Every child had a pretty good shot
To get at least as far as their old man got
But something happened on the way to that place
They threw an American flag in our face
2- As a matter of opinion, I think he's tops
My opinion is, he's the cream of the crop
As a matter of taste, to be exact
He's my ideal, as a matter of fact
3- I hear her voice in the mornin' hour, she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
Drivin' down the road, I get a feelin'
That I should've been home yesterday, yesterday
4- A love like ours
Could never die
As long as I
Have you near me
5- Look like nothing's gonna change
Everything still remains the same
I can't do what ten people tell me to do
So I guess I'll remain the same, yes
6- Sorry, girl, but you missed out
Well, tough luck, that boy's mine now
We are more than just good friends
This is how the story ends
7- Since you've gone, I've been lost without a trace
I dream at night, I can only see your face
I look around, but it's you I can't replace
I feel so cold, and I long for your embrace
I keep crying, baby, baby, please
8- All that night and all the next
Swam without looking back
Made for the western pools, silly, silly fools
9- Now that I put it all together, oh, oh
Give me the chance to make you see
Have you used up all the love in your heart?
Nothing left for me? Ain't there nothing left for me?
10- But, oh, how it feels so real
Lying here with no one near
Only you, and you can hear me
When I say softly, slowly
11- Where do we go?
Where do we go now?
Where do we go?
12- When I'm tired and thinking cold
I hide in my music, forget the day
And dream of a girl I used to know
I closed my eyes and she slipped away
She slipped away
13- I'm turning you down, baby, and I'm going my way
Forget about you, baby, 'cause I'm leaving to stay
Deep cuts Bonus:
2 points for title and artist
14- Why wait any longer for the world to begin?
You can have your cake and eat it too
Why wait any longer for the one you love
When he's standing in front of you?
15- For they could not love you
But still your love was true
And when no hope was left in sight
16- Now, hey you, mister, can't ya read?
You've gotta have a shirt and tie to get a seat
You can't even watch, no, you can't eat
You ain't supposed to be here!
Krox bonus: Give me lyrics to a song that occur during the bridge with artist.
