Winter Olympics 2026

this is a thread for the winter Olympics. I want to put my opinions on how I feel about it but this is free for anyone's opinions about how they feel about it.
let's just begin with curling for Canada and Italy. they played one round on the broadcast before saying if you want to see the rest go onto our very expensive streaming service. (it's like more than double what every other streaming services currently asking for) if they were going to do that at least give us the dignity, and I mean just plain dignity of saying portion of curling or preview of curling. when you're saying you're going to put a match, you expect it to at least finish. they sure are not afraid to go overtime for hockey which ate up some of the preview.
they did not even air it the entire half hour that they promised and went to big air (which is literally the name of the event, as dumb as it sounds) around 25 minutes, instead of 30. not to mention they were just showing backstage for that 5 minutes where they could show actual sports coverage if they did curling. I would say the actual broadcasting of the match was fine. they were not overly one-sided like they usually are and I have to at least give them credit there.
they decided to do the split screen for a big air. (which is snowboarding down the big slope basically) this was a great choice considering they were still doing matches. Something I have seen before on some cable networks like USA but not really on any of the network shows. it's actually funny that they were showing more snowboarding during the commercials then during the actual run time. (A lot of the run time with them showing backstage stuff, but that's what you get with NBC) I love that we have to hear "it's nice to watch them mature." I don't wanna watch them a "mature" I want to watch them to snowboarding. maybe you guys think we wanna watch "them mature" but that is not why we came onto this broadcast.
I am wondering how they are going to deal with la 2028 because I do remember hearing that they actually have to keep it very accessible in years in which they are the host country. peacock is not accessible if your charging the most amount amount of money for it. (I feel like they will get in trouble for price gouging during the Olympics if they do this during the LA Olympics like there likely would have been in trouble if they did the simulcast back in the 90s during Atlanta) this peacock exclusive stuff is going to be a big pain once network tv is gone but for now let's just be happy we have something. I can't wait to write more as the days go by but I feel like this is a great place to start.
The opening ceremony was amazing, I wish they did not go to the American team during the techno portion with the heads bumping to techno music.(I know this makes no sense if you have not seen the opening game ceremony) mostly because I was my favourite portion but other than that, they even did split screen during the commercial break. (even though as of this moment I am only an hour in)
