I Hadn't Thought About Model Building in Years

Maybe decades.

I had a fun conversation with a small-town mechanic today. He is really big into the muscle cars of the early 70's. They were the bomb during the formative years of his childhood. I noticed a buch of smallish muscle cars in some display shelves there today and I asked if they were models-He said -no, he bought them that way.

Then I said-I bet you built a lot of models as a kid and he said-"Yeah, that is about all I did."

I dabbled a little-but-it wasn't really my thing.

But-we are children of the 70's-which had to be the ultimate time for model building among kids as it was pre-video game and computer and all that.

We talked about how the small-town dime stores sold the model kits and, of course he remembered about them also selling all the needed paints and glues and stuff. Yeah, sell 10 years old nasty inhalants LOL. That and woodburning sets-.

I was a little bit into stamp collecting than and these small town dime stores would also sell large variety bags of random stamps. It was kind of fun to go through those.

I told him of a mutual friend who also built a LOT of models in the 70's and he was surprised as he would not of figured that.

I wish I could find my stamp collection (it is around here somewhere) to see if any of the stamps are worth anyting.
