We will close out this game with a tribute to one of my favorite songwriters, Paul Simon. His birthday is Oct. 13, the date this game began, and I swear I did not know that when I was planning the game. For the artist you can answer S if it is from his solo career or SG if it is a Simon and Garfunkel song.
And since this is the final game, I thank all of you for playing. I hope you enjoyed it.
1. She said why don't we both
Just sleep on it tonight
And I believe in the morning
You'll begin to see the light
And then she kissed me
And I realized she was probably right
2. Whoa, in a couple of days they come and take me away
But the press let the story leak
And when the radical priest
Come to get me released
We was all on the cover of Newsweek
3. When I left my home and my family
I was no more than a boy
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of the railway station
Running scared
Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters
Where the ragged people go
Looking for the places only they would know
4. Making love in the afternoon with [title]
Up in my bedroom (making love)
I got up to wash my face
When I come back to bed
Someone's taken my place
5.Four in the morning
Crapped out, yawning
Longing my life away
I'll never worry
Why should I?
It's all gonna fade
6. Hello lamppost, what'cha knowing
I've come to watch your flowers growin'
7. Oh, little darling of mine
I just can't believe it's so
Though it seems strange to say
I never been laid so low
8. Looks so easy, it looks so clean
He moves like God's immaculate machine
He makes me think about all these extra moves I make
And all this herky-jerky motion
And the bag of tricks it takes
To get me through my working day
9. And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said the words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
10. Mr. Beer Belly, Beer Belly
Get these mutts away from me, you know
I don't find this stuff amusing anymore
11. When I think back on all the crap I learned in high school
It's a wonder I can think at all
And though my lack of education hasn't hurt me none
I can read the writing on the wall
12. Tonight I'll sing my songs again
I'll play the game and pretend
But all my words come back to me
In shades of mediocrity
Like emptiness in harmony
I need someone to comfort me
13. My father was a fisherman
My mama was a fisherman's friend
And I was born in the boredom and the chowder
So when I reached my prime
I left my home in the Maritimes
Headed down the turnpike for New England, sweet New England
14. The next thing I remember
I am walking down the street
I'm feeling all right
I'm with my boys, I'm with my troops, yeah
15. Sail on, silver girl, sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh if you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Bonus: For two points each, to what actress was Paul Simon briefly married in the '80s, and to what singer is he currently married?
And since this is the final game, I thank all of you for playing. I hope you enjoyed it.
