Pevney was a director of a number of unmemorable movies (best known of which were Meet Danny Wilson, Tammy and the Bachelor and Man of a Thousand Faces) and a lot of television shows, including some very memorable Star Trek episodes, such as the Tribbles episode and City on the Edge of Forever. He directed 14 episodes of the original series, tying him with Marc Daniels (Daniels directed the two-part Menagerie episode, which gave him either 14 or 15, depending on how you want to count it) for the most of any single person.

And I would be among that group. Harlan Ellison always complained about what Roddenberry had done to City on the Edge of Forever, but having read Ellison's original story I can say that what Roddenberyy did was to make the script into a Star Trek episode. More important, he made it one that could be aired on television in the 1960s.
