Long-time political reporter best known for a syndicated column he wrote with Baltimore Sun colleague Jack Germond. Witcover began his career in 1954 and was a few feet away from Robert Kennedy when Kennedy was shot in 1968. (He heard the gunshots.) He wrote numerous politcal books, including an updated version of a Joe Biden biography which was published in 2020. He finally retired in 2022 at age 95.
