Service shuts down September 30 as Yahoo says 'very small number of customers' still use legacy connection
AOL, the company previously known formally as America Online, is discontinuing its Dial-up internet service after 34 years.
"We are discontinuing the dial-up internet service component included in certain legacy AOL Advantage, CompuServe, and Netscape Connect Plans as we innovate to meet the needs of today’s digital landscape," a spokesperson for Yahoo – which counts AOL among its brands – said in a statement to FOX Business.

Do you know how long it takes to download a porn video on dial-up?
What resolution and length? Oh wait, no, I have no idea.
Too darned long, especially when your wife keeps complaining that she can't make a phone call. And when you finally watch it, it's a grainy 30-second clip of a dancer at a fourth-rate strip club.

Since AOL sponsored the contest that got me into the HS, I shed a small tear.
