is a bit like gift giving.

It is a gift.

One might be better off having their attention on giving the gift rather than on who else is giving a gift.

I'm just sayin'.

You're right, absolutely. But having done tons of volunteering while the boys were in school (mostly pta stuff) - I will also say that it gets old to have one's gift bitched about. I adopted PSM's method of "Great Ideas for improvement! I'll put your name down to run x project next time"

Didn't matter much - I did it because I enjoyed it and the kids - not to please the adults.

This has worked fabulously well for me. "That's a great idea, Jim, and thank you for volunteering to direct the project!"

Then if Jim follows through, it gets done. If he doesn't, there wasn't enough time/resources/energy/interest to do it anyway.

The only problem is, Jim can't spell.

Or use apostrophes. :P

This is how I feel when people piss and moan, critique and argue about the way people meister a board game when they'd never dream of actually going to the trouble of running one themselves.

If they were worthy, they would get to bite me, but.... they are not worthy, so they can get a 'screw you'.

Did I ever thank you for being nothing but supportive during my tenure? (I first put 'during my runs', but thought better of it. Ha!) If not, thank you.

You are welcome.

Your tenure was most fun for me.
