Endgame 1944

#1 Post by Spock » Mon Jun 02, 2025 9:56 am

I am currently reading "Endgame 1944" which is an Eastern-Front focused look at 1944 WW2. Kind of a different look for us in the west. We generally get 1941-to the Battle of Moscow-then Stalingrad to Kursk in the summer of 1943. Then Eastern Front stuff generally jumps ahead almost 2 years to the Battle of Berlin.

For us, once we land in Normandy-everything is usually focused there.

"Operation Bagration" (often known as the death of German Army Group Center) the Soviet offensive which took place generally at the same time as Normandy was the worst defeat ever for the German military.

A few years ago, I read a book on Operation Bagration which was a very disappointing book-I am thinking this one which is a little more general will be better.

I consider myself very widely read on WW2, but this will one will have a lot of new stuff for me and I am enjoying it so far.
