Michelle Trachtenberg dead at 39
Michelle Trachtenberg gained fame for '[Buffy the Vampire Slayer'], 'Gossip Girl' and 'Harriet the Spy'
The 39-year-old actress was found dead in a New York City apartment, Fox News Digital can confirm.
Authorities found Trachtenberg at a residence after responding to a 911 call around 8 a.m. local time. The actress was unconscious and unresponsive, according to the New York Police Department. Trachtenberg's death is not being investigated as suspicious and the cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
Police sources told ABC7 Trachtenberg had recently undergone a liver transplant and may have been experiencing complications.

I remember her from
Buffy* and this is one more news story that makes me feel old.
*When Michelle's character was introduced in season five, it was one of those things that would be considered an utterly ridiculous retcon on any other show. But because it was
Buffy, the audience just knew there would be some supernatural explanation behind it.

Her cause of death is undetermined as her family refused an autopsy.

I have a good friend here at work who is a law clerk for one of our judges. Simply brilliant, and an absolute gem on our trivia team. He is on the spectrum, and his absolute obsession is all things Buffy. He's just devastated, poor guy. I've never seen an episode but seeing the outpouring for her makes me want to binge watch it.

They refused an autopsy because:
Autopsies are expensive and sometimes unnecessarily public, plus the process delays the family being able to get on with grieving.
They know her cause of death (she had a liver transplant a year ago, and had been having rejection issues recently).
Their religion discourages changes to the body after death except in extraordinary cases.
