Re: 2525 - Annum 2, 2-6-25

#20 Post by Bob78164 » Sun Feb 09, 2025 11:44 pm

Happy days aren't here again.
1- The first Winter Olympics open in Europe.

2- An English comedian, actor, and scriptwriter, whose irreverent TV show ran from 1955 to 1989, is born.

3- A former President of the United States who was also a Nobel Peace Prize recipient dies.

4- An American astronomer announced his discovery of the spiral nebula Andromeda, proving for the first time that our own Milky Way is but one of many galaxies. A space telescope bearing his name is launched decades later.

5- A DC man is appointed as the fifth Director of the BOI (Bureau of Investigation, later the FBI). As director, he immediately fires all female agents and bans the future hiring of them.

6- An American television screenwriter who creates a popular (but bizarre) anthology TV series many years later, is born on Christmas Day.

Questions:
Two points each:

In what country were the Olympics held in #1? Sweden

Who is the funny person in #2? Benny Hill
What song became the signature tune of his show? Pop Goes the Weasel

Who is the president mentioned in #3? Theodore Roosevelt

Who is the astronomer in #4? Hubbell

Who is the director in #5? J. Edgar Hoover
How many years was he director of BOI and FBI (+/- 5)? 45

Who is the screenwriter in #6? Rod Serling
What TV anthology show did he create and host? The Twilight Zone

What year did all the events take place? (Five points) 1932
