PSA Airlines (Operating under the American Eagle brand) Flight 5342 left Wichita, KS at 5:22 PM scheduled to arrive aroung 9:03, Flight Aware shows the flight ended at 8:57 PM right as it was starting to cross the Potomac.

60 passengers, 4 crew.

No word on how many were onboard the Blackhawk.

That reminds me of the Air Florida crash into the Potomac River in the 1970s. I lost two colleagues from USPS in that tragic event.

Several victims were traveling after attending the skating competition in Wichita - two Russian world champions among them.

Reports are the air traffic control supervisor decided that there was light enough traffic that they had one controller doing two jobs, control of fixed wing and helicopters, usually done by separate controllers.

And, the helicoptor was flying without a working transponder.
