The reason you have pairs triples, etc. is the number of pro teams associated with that mascot. So, Giants will form a trio with a New York match (When Harry Met Sally) and a San Francisco match.
Pretty sure it would have to be the other way around... the cities will match with multiple teams that play in that city.

lb13
I think you're right. Each team name appears only once (we'd notice if there were two films that had "Rangers" or "Yankees" in the title). We have to figure out which city that name goes with. I'm guessing that "New York" has four or five teams associated with it: Giants, Mets, Rangers, Yankees, which means that "Texas Rangers" and "San Francisco Giants" don't figure in the puzzle and that there's only one movie that associates with New York.

Melvin and Howard is associated in part with Las Vegas, but it also takes place in Utah, so that could be the matchup with Utah Jazz.

As Frank said, we'll probably have to play around to get this right.

47. The fifth film of Roger Corman’s “Poe cycle,” it probably had less relation to its source material than any of the others.

THE HAUNTED PALACE
Although I was right that The Haunted Palace is based on a Lovecraft story, once we knew what the Tangredi was, this didn't feel right. And it's not.

The film is THE RAVEN, and the link is obvious.

41. One of the Big Three films that ushered in the Golden Age of Porn, its plot was inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre’s existential play No Exit. Really. I’m not kidding.

BEHIND THE GREEN DOOR? DEEP THROAT?
Neither of these is a good fit for the Tangredi. It's THE DEVIL IN MISS JONES

I'm going to guess that 9. is THE FIRM and not The Thing since there are no teams called the things and I am reasonably sure that there are no sports teams in Antarctica, It's a shame, though, because Wilford Brimley is plenty creepy in The Thing

Wow, this is moving fast!

We’ve identified Baltimore with 6. DINER and New York with 17. WHEN HARRY MET SALLY.

I believe we now know all 30 cities. We still have to find the films for Phoenix and Seattle, and fill in 19 more teams.

Do the rules allow us to use WHEN HARRY MET SALLY for both the setting and for the Mets or do we need to find another movie for New York?

Carolina has to be either Panthers or Hurricanes

The only pro team in Memphis is the Grizzlies unless Frank is thinking more broadly and using Tennessee so it could be Titans

Orlando has to be Magic

Colorado has to be either Rockies or Avalanche

I'm not going to try gratuitous lookups on something that's not my specialty, but I'd propose there's likely movies with some form of the following titles: PIRATE, ANGEL, BLUE, GUARDIAN, MAGIC, GRIZZLY (Adams?), BLACKHAWK...

And what about BOSTON? I guess their team names are a bit more obscure, except for Patriots, which has the wrong geographical name....

Remember that 6. DINER is set in Baltimore.

Also look for BLACK PANTHER, REMEMBER THE TITANS, and ROCKY.

Oddly enough, When Harry Met Sally has to be in the New York match regardless of whether it's here for the city or the Mets...

CONSOLIDATION #2

Game #219 – Film Crew

Identify the 90 movies below. (Every other clue is a quotation.) Then, match the movies into 11 pairs, 12 triples, 4 groups of four, 2 groups of five, and 1 group of six, according to a Tangredi, or principle you must discover for yourself.
