CNN news anchor best known for reporting on the 9/11 attacks from the roof of CNN's New York offices. This was Brown's first day on the job at CNN (although he had served as an anchor for ABC's World News Tonight previously), and he hadn't been scheduled to work that day, but he was rushed to the roof when the first airplane hit the Twin Towers. He witnessed and reported on the actual tower collapse and remained on the air for 17 hours that day. He won the Edward R. Murrow Award for his reporting that day.
Age 76.
