It's December so the Best of Lists are out from various critics groups. (Asterisk by those I've seen so far):

American Film Institute

Anora*
The Brutalist
A Complete Unknown
Conclave*
Dune: Part Two*
Emilia Perez
Nickel Boys
A Real Pain*
Sing Sing*
Wicked*

National Board of Review

Anora*
Babygirl
A Complete Unknown
Conclave*
Furiosa*
Gladiator II*
Juror #2*
Queer
A Real Pain*
Sing Sing*
Wicked* (Named Best Film)

A couple of these have interesting details. The Brutalist is a 3 1/2 hour film with an intermission about a Jewish European architect (Adrien Brody) who comes to America after World War II and gradually works his way up to larger scale projects. Emilia Perez is a Spanish language musical (currently on Netflix) about a Mexican cartel leader who wants to get out of the business in more ways than one. He fakes his own death and then transitions into a female. A Spanish trans actress plays both parts. Others in the cast include Zoe Saldana as the lawyer who helps with the deception and a very well-reviewed Selena Gomez as the cartel leader's unsuspecting wife.

I've seen Wicked.

I want to see Juror 2, based on your recommendation. Gladiator as well. The others can wait until they are available on one of the too many streaming services I now subscribe to.

I almost created a new bored word: twoo

I think it a good word. It works in all cases.

Madeline Kahn, "It's twoo, it's twoo!"

What, Megalopolis didn't make any of those lists? (I'm kidding, of course. Megalopolis was in incoherent mess.)

Juror # 2 is now streaming on Max. We will watch it over the holidays.
