NY Jets Fire Head Coach Robert Saleh

Usually, NFL teams wait until late in a lost season to ditch a head coach, but the Jets are only 2-3, five games in after losing to the Vikings in London over the weekend.

The Aaron Rogers experiment isn't working so well, especially for Saleh.

On the other side of the stadium, Giants coach Brian Daboll may have bought himself some time by beating Seattle last weekend to get to the same 2-3 record as the Jets.

I missed this one during all the distractions earlier in the week, but the New Orleans Saints fired head coach Dennis Allen on Monday after losing their seventh game in the row to the Carolina Panthers. He was replaced by interim coach Darren Rizzi, who beat the Falcons today.

The clock is ticking for Brian Daboll. The Giants just lost to the Panthers as well.

The Jets made it a clean sweep today, firing General Manager Joe Douglas after the team lost to Indianapolis on Sunday to fall to 3-8.

As bad as the Giants are this season, I can take some solace in knowing that the Jets' season is even worse, not quite recordwise, but in terms of anticipation, as a lot of people had them going to the playoffs. They actually have a worse record this season with a healthy Aaron Rodgers than they had without him last season at this time.

And the Jets will continue their streak of not making the playoffs since 2010.

The New England Patriots didn't even wait until the traditional Black Monday to make a coaching change.

They placed a takeout order for next season and said, "Hold the Mayo." Head Coach Jerod Mayo got the ax minutes after finishing his only season with a 4-13 record. He couldn't even win for winning, since the Patriots' victory in their season finale over the Bills dropped them from first to fourth in the NFL draft. Ironically, that 4-13 record was the same as Bill Belichick had in his final season as Patriots coach last year. I doubt Mayo is going to wind up coaching North Carolina like Belichick did last year.

Expect more to come tomorrow; perhaps Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen of the Giants.

Paging Mike Vrabel.

Also, OC Alex Van Pelt is out as well.

The Jaguars have fired head coach Doug Pederson after a 4-13 season.

The Giants announced they are keeping Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen after a 3-14 season. Just when I thought the year couldn't get any worse for the Giants, it did.

They fire one former Patriot who lasted one season and replace him with another former Patriot who'd been fired a year earlier by Tennessee.

Got it.

Last time the NEP hired a retread HC it worked out pretty well.

Mike McCarthy is out as Dallas Cowboys head coach, bringing what's probably the final total for the season up to seven coaches out of work, about average for most years. Technically, McCarthy wasn't fired; his contract expires this week, and the Cowboys aren't renewing it.
