WWTBAM Bored

I read several (way too many) books at one time and I have been slowly working my way through a re-read of Shelby Foote's massive trilogy on the Civil War. I first read them in the early 90's along with many others after the Ken Burns thing.

Just finished the re-read tonight, and I don't know if I have ever had this feeling about finishing and re-shelving a book.

I was trying to think of how to describe my feeling and "Sad" is not it-maybe "wistful" is the best description. I know for a fact that I will never read them again so it is almost goodbye to an old friend.

I did not have the same feeling after a recent re-read of the Gulag Archipelago trilogy because I suspect I will read them again.

I got a kick out of my old bookmark in one of the three.

It is a piece of scratch paper from a note pad and it says "Scratch Pad" across the top.

In the upper left corner is a line drawing of male buttocks and legs with his hand scratching his ass.

We used to have a lot of these floating around the place-they came from a relative that bought out stores from insurance and bankruptcy and such.

I think I still have a partial pad somewhere in my pile of note pads as not too long ago Mrs Spock wouldn't let me use one to write my banking instructions on for the teller-I have known said teller since Kindergarten and I told her about it anyway. She got a kick out it.

Anyway, I have given TGirl and Beebs something to track down on the internet. LOL.
