One part of that obit seems wrong to me.
Auschwitz, for example, is still often referred to as a “Polish death camp”—rather than one run by the country's Nazi occupiers, in which huge numbers of Polish citizens perished.
Do people really interpret "Polish death camp" as meaning not a Nazi one? I always thought of that usage as geographic rather than any sort of attempt to put responsibility on Poles.
Hmmm. A little Google research shows that the Polish government is upset by this usage. Interesting.
I suppose that the location is not that big of a deal and "Nazi death camp" has no room for misinterpretation.
