Athletic director at Georgia Tech from 1980 to 1997. He took over what was a complete mess and made the football, basketball, and baseball programs nationally respected with the hirings of Bill Curry, Bobby Ross, Bobby Cremins, Jim Morris, and Danny Hall (who's still the Tech baseball coach). He instituted what he called the "total person" program designed to prepare student-athletes in all sports for lives and careers after their playing days were over.

Age 97.
