So, Jeopardy last night

Was anyone else bothered by the accepted winning answer?
Yes. Though I misinterpreted the answer. I thought is was "...commonly used to described any dominat person or expert". I was thinging GOAT or something like that. According to the J! websited the term origiantes from Hawaiian referring to an expert in any field. I, and I assume many others use it more as "The Bossman". But that may just be my ingorance of the term.

Just to be argumentative, I think the player wrote "What is the Big Kahuna?" with the "the" being the definate article, not part of the noun (two word phrase).tlynn78 wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 10:00 amBackInTex wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 7:39 amYes. My issue was more pedantic (shocker, I know)
The question, if I remember correctly, asked for the ...two word term... The player awarded the win answered "What is THE Big Kahuna" - three words. Persnickity, I know, but I feel like I've seen people lose for less.
I know, but it (3 words) came after "what is" Pedantic, I know.BackInTex wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 11:38 amJust to be argumentative, I think the player wrote "What is the Big Kahuna?" with the "the" being the definate article, not part of the noun (two word phrase).tlynn78 wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 10:00 amBackInTex wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 7:39 am

Maybe if you sobered up a bit, you'd understand.tlynn78 wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 11:54 amI know, but it (3 words) came after "what is" Pedantic, I know.BackInTex wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 11:38 amJust to be argumentative, I think the player wrote "What is the Big Kahuna?" with the "the" being the definate article, not part of the noun (two word phrase).tlynn78 wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 10:00 am

I believe that "the" is optional in J! questions.tlynn78 wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 11:54 amI know, but it (3 words) came after "what is" Pedantic, I know.BackInTex wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 11:38 amJust to be argumentative, I think the player wrote "What is the Big Kahuna?" with the "the" being the definate article, not part of the noun (two word phrase).tlynn78 wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 10:00 am
