Every one is based on government employees. Humm.silverscreenselect wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 11:15 amCBS has had more cancellations than usual this season, so they've announced several new series, some of which seem quite interesting:
- CIA -- Despite the title, it's a spinoff of the FBI series from Dick Wolf. Tom Ellis (Lucifer) plays a rule-breaking CIA agent teamed with a by-the-book FBI agent (not yet cast) to work on cases in the US that cross jurisdictional lines.
- Einstein -- Matthew Gray Gubler from Criminal Minds (a very good choice) plays Albert Einstein's great-grandson who is a college professor with no purpose in his life until he decides to help the New York Police Department solve crimes.(It's a wonder how TV cops can solve crimes on their own without the help of brilliant consultants.)
- DMV -- Comedy set at a big city DMV starring Tim Meadows as a driving examiner.
- Boston Blue -- Spinoff of Blue Bloods with Donnie Wahlberg as his Blue Bloods role of Danny Regan, now working for the Boston PD.
- Sheriff Country -- Spinoff of Fire Country with Morena Baccarin as the sheriff of the small California town where Fire Country takes place.

It's been a busy day for the red pencil at NBC. In addition to these three shows, Found and Lopez vs. Lopez were also cancelled.Bob78164 wrote: ↑Sat May 10, 2025 10:14 amI believe NBC also has cancelled The Irrational and Night Court. --Bobsilverscreenselect wrote: ↑Sat May 10, 2025 9:18 amNBC has renewed Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU. Found is especially upsetting for me. An acquaintance's husband is an extra on movies and TV that film in Atlanta, and he's been on Found a couple of times. On last Thursday's show, she appeared with him. The episode was about a Jewish family that disappears, and she and her husband played a couple walking into the temple while the show's main characters were talking to the rabbi about the disappearance.

Jimmy Kimmel’s primetime schedule is coming into focus. Following its recent renewal, the fourth season of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire now has an premiere date.
Who Wants To Be a Millionaire will premiere Wednesday, July 23 on ABC. The hour-long show will run in the 8pm time slot, and will serve as the lead-in to the network’s Match Game revival, with Martin Short replacing Alec Baldwin, who hosted the show’s most recent iteration four years ago.
Kimmel’s twist on Millionaire has landed on the format of putting two celebrities at once in the hot seat. The stars answer questions together in the hopes of winning up to a million dollars for the charity of their choice. Last year’s contestants included late-night personalities like John Mulaney, Kenan Thompson, Reggie Watts, and Kimmel’s Cousin Sal.
In addition to hosting the show, Kimmel executive produces it through his Kimmelot production banner alongside Michael Davies and Sony Pictures Television’s Embassy Row.
Though the new season will run through the summer, it only adds up to a few days work for Kimmel. The host will tape the season in just one weekend, recording two shows a day from Friday, June 6 to Sunday, June 8.
With Kimmel typically taking summers off from Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Millionaire has the side benefit of giving him a presence on ABC even while he enjoys some time off with his family (and perhaps Magic Johnson).
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire will tape in Los Angeles in early June. Audience tickets are available via 1iota.

Amazon cancels Amy Sherman-Palladino's Étoile halfway through "two-season commitment"
It turns out that not even a “two-season” order from a major streamer can break the single-season curse on ballet TV from Amy Sherman-Palladino: Étoile, created by the Gilmore Girls alum with her husband Daniel Palladino, has just gone the way of Bunheads, having been canceled at Prime Video after just one season.
