It's time for the Rockin' in the USA finale, which will test your knowledge of artist geography. Here's the map of the regions I used for this theme....



Below are 15 songs, with three for each of the five regions I covered this year. So along with the usual credit, just identify the region (NE, S, MW, W and CA will suffice) each artist came from or where the band was formed for an extra point. Yes, the Earl Rule does not apply to this game..... kinda.

Mr. Brightside - The Killers - West (When I featured "Believer" on my blog a few years ago, I noted how off it seemed to me that Imagine Dragons came out of Las Vegas... and then one of my readers gave me a whole list of artists who hailed from Sin City... including a whole slew of more recent bands like these guys. I guess it's more than just a huge tourist trap and sports team thief...)

If You Want To Get To Heaven - Ozark Mountain Daredevils - Midwest (Outside of the few St. Louis acts we have [Can't believe I forgot Bob Kuban!], I struggled to fill Missouri. I wanted so bad to use the band called Missouri, since their song "Movin' On" is such a huge regional hit around here and could've been a Top 40 hit if it'd gotten more national exposure, but who would have recognized it?)

I had completely forgotten that Jewel was from Alaska and thought that state was a black hole! I didn't even consider Don Ho for Hawaii, either.... so a lot of the Kroxes caught me pleasantly off guard. Thank goodness nobody used that guy who desecrated Judy Garland, but I'm a little sad there was no Glenn Medeiros. Oh, and here's my Krox... one of my favorite songs from the era of the Mecca CD a decade ago....

mrkelley gets this one for a promotion I had literally not crossed through my mind since it happened. I barely remember it at all, but we got MTV in early 1984, and it does have a familiar ring to it. The toxic waste dump story cracks me up, living in a city has so much lead buried in it that they dug up a whole bunch of our yards in the 90's....
