Stand-up comic and actor who was highly popular in Las Vegas for years and a regular guest on the Tonight Show. He was also in the cast of Combat during its first season.
Another guy I thought had shuffled off this mortal coil years ago.

A horse of the same name briefly led, then finished 6th in the 1973 Kentucky Derby won by Secretariat.

Of note-he was US Navy vet for 3 years during WW2 per his Wiki page. The People obit linked didn't mention that. I suspect if he had died 20 or 30 years ago that might have gotten more attention in the press.
But then again-the vapid and shallow entertainment writers at People probably didn't even think to check for possible WW2 service.
That was the first thing I thought of when I saw his age. I figured probably not as he was at the young side for service-but low and behold 3-year US Navy service ending in 1944 so he served at a very young age.
