Escargot or Calamari at the Golden Steer?

#1 Post by Spock » Wed Nov 15, 2023 6:04 pm

In a few months we are going to Las Vegas and plan to eat at The Golden Steer. We already have a reservation.

The easy part is I plan to have a steak (medium rare) and one of their massive lobster tails.

I don't do salad-so their famous Chef's salad is out.

But, I am overanalyzing whether to order the Escargot or Calamari for an appetizer.

Leaning toward Calamari. I have only had good Calamari once and that was at the Johannesburg Airport (oddly enough)-should be good here.

Backstory-sometime last winter-I decided that if we ever went back to Vegas-we would eat at the Golden Steer.

After that, Li'l Spock and some friends ate there-the group had reservations before it was known that he would be going along and said it was the best food they ever had.

I know I won't make my decision until the day of-but fun to think about-The escargot would be good too.-but I can't do both.

I prefer escargot to calamari, but that's just me.

Is the Golden Steer any relation to the Golden Corral? I eat there a lot. They don't have Escargot or Calamari, but they do have fish sticks.

In 4 weeks, we'll be in Las Vegas. We have reservations at Hell's Kitchen.

They both belong in the trashcan.

S Car Go it is. Dang, now I need to find something else to overanalyze about the trip.

I know-we are going to The Oyster Bar at Palace Station and the menu has a lot of unfamiliar permutations for me to think about.

I am going to do Gumbo for sure-have to think about something else to go with it.
