The Spocklette's betrothed took a sunset picture of me combining yesterday.
Pretty good pic.

Ben is a talented photographer. Ask him to take pictures of the aurora.

I don't know how talented he is. The pic kind of makes itself. This is my first year looking around on Ag Twitter to try and see early harvest reports (dry corn belt-so yields might be more)-anyway lots of pictures of combines against the sunset and so forth.
Got the aurora joke though. At least I think it was a joke-if not-then never mind.

Sunsets are beautiful in the Midwest. This week, according to the national news, the aurora borealis has been spectacular in the Dakotas.

Beautiful picture!!
The Spocklette is not old enough to have a betrothed.
At least in my mind she's not.
Yep-you were there pretty early. Just a couple of weeks old at the Final Four time and get-togtehr at Mall of America.
To me, she will always be the very little girl practicing saying "Elephant" in her room-so she could get it right and not be laughed at.
Not sure if you have ever caught that she is my movie bud. She has long had an interest in watching old movies and so forth with me. I habe WWTBAM to thank for prompting me to get more into movies years ago now.
For the last few years, we were on a Howard Hawks kick with whatever we could get from Netflix.
We do own Hatari and you will probably not be surprised that is a family favorite.

Interesting trivia about Hatari. The studio originally wanted Clark Gable to co-star in the film as John Wayne's romantic rival. I'm not sure if Gable's health would have allowed him to go to Africa when they would have been filming, but he wanted too much money anyway, so they rewrote the script and signed Hardy Kruger and that French guy instead. And Gable made The Misfits, which wound up killing him anyway.

The "Africa" movie trivia thing that absolutely gobsmacks me is that part of "The African Queen" was filmed in what was then Belgian Congo. Unbelievable that it was safe enough then for a major movie crew and now you would be taking your life in your hands to visit those areas.
