WTF, KC?

Chiefs at home v. the Lions seemed like the gimme game of the season. Ten percent of all of the ESPN Eliminator entries are now toast. Leave it to the freakin' Chiefs, man...
I hate picking KC to win anything, so I figured I'd get them out of the way and picked them for all five of my entries, then noticed that ESPN upped the allowed number of entries this year from 5 to 25. So I added 10 more to cover my bases. I guess I need to go look at those and make sure my I want to stay with my random picks...

KC was only favored by 4 points.
Nothing is a gimme in week 1. No one has yet seen any team play to win.
The pick-6 was enough to wipe out that 4 point spread. If not for that, KC would have beaten the spread (and the Lions).
On a personal note:
While all the players are introducing themselves as "John Smith, USC", or "Bill Smith" University of Iowa, Brock Wright introduces himself as "Brock Wright, Cy-Fair High School".
All my kids went to Cy-Fair. Brock was between my youngest daughter and son (who is a year younger than Brock). BFND (Bobcat Fight Never Dies)

When I watched the game, I kept thinking about how glad I am that Kedarius Toney and Richie James (who went to my high school) won't be dropping passes for the New York Giants this year.

For the football pool thingie I also picked the Chiefs, but I gave them "only" a 7. The hedge was thinking the Lions would be motivated after just missing the playoffs last season. They smell blood with the Vikings very unlikely to have nearly as good of a season as they did in 2022. Aaron Rodgers is gone from GB and the Bears are the Bears.
I could not make myself pick the Lions outright for a 1 or a 2 because KC is usually quite good at home and especially on prime time. Andyrinny won the night giving the Chiefs only a 4 though BobNumbers made no pick so only cost himself 1 point.
The other factor for not being completely shocked by the result is Super Bowl hangover. The Rams also opened with a loss last year.

Last night was the first time Patrick Mahomes had lost at home to an NFC team.

Rest assured the Giants have a fresh set of pass droppers on their roster.
