Mega vacation time!

#1 Post by Pastor Fireball » Wed Jul 12, 2023 8:37 pm

Beginning now and lasting until the rest of the month, I don't have to focus on any of my church duties.

April, April's parents, Allen, Cory, Najai, Demetrius, adopted son Nate, cousin Cameron, and I will be boarding a flight to New York City tomorrow morning. My ex-wife, Amy, is scheduled to fly from Louisville tomorrow. Amy's parents are scheduled to fly out of Atlanta tomorrow. Amy's twin brother is flying from Memphis tomorrow. We're all coming together as one big happy family for Javon's and Kira's wedding on Saturday. (Kind of a sad irony that I'll be gaining a daughter on the same week that Bob Juch loses a daughter.)

After the ceremony, Javon and Kira are off to their honeymoon in Hawaii... giving the rest of us ample time to spend with my grandson and take in the New York sights until Javon and Kira return next Thursday.

We say goodbye to April's parents, Cameron, Amy, and Amy's family next Friday morning as they all fly back to their respective hometowns. Meanwhile, the rest of us will load up a couple of rental minivans and drive down to Seven Springs, Pennsylvania. That's right, it's time once again for the World Boardgaming Championships. As was the case last year, I will be in charge of the Dominion tournament. And no, I will not rig any heat or playoff game in favor of any of my sons.

The tournaments for the over 100 different games will run until July 30, when we will all drive back to New York. I will return to Cincinnati with my wife, younger sons, and adopted son on Monday July 31.

Although I will be on vacation for the next 18 days, you can guarantee that I will not neglect Wordle. My Wordle win streak is now on 198 consecutive days and I refuse to let a big number like that stop.

Weddings and funerals bring families together. Some of Heather's relatives haven't seen each other for many years. It's going to be crowded Friday.

Teach a child to be polite and courteous in the home and, when he grows up, he'll never be able to drive in New Jersey.
