RIP Alan Arkin

Oscar-winning actor for Little Miss Sunshine best known for his comic roles dating back to the 60s. Ironically, two of his best performances came in dramas from that period, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter (for which he got an Oscar nomination) and the creepy, sadistic villain in Wait Until Dark (one of my favorite Arkin roles).

My favorite Arkin movie was The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming -- I was pretty young, and I didn't discriminate much back then. It wouldn't make my top ten now.
-- In Iroquois society, leaders are encouraged to remember seven generations in the past and consider seven generations in the future when making decisions that affect the people.
-- America would be a better place if leaders would do more long-term thinking. -- Wilma Mankiller
