I was in Destin in '96 with my wife, her sister Karen, her wife's husband and some of his family. One day Karen, my wife, and I were out swimming, maybe 50 yards out in about 8 ft of water when we three and an unknown heavyset lady got caught in a rip current. My wife, I and Karen, growing up going to the beach in Galveston knew what to do, but that lady didn't. She panicked and grabbed Karen, nearly drowning her until we got to that 2nd sandbar. It took us a while to calm the lady down and to get her to move horizontal to the beach while walking on the sandbar where we could easily swim back.
I'm sure Mallett was a strong swimmer and wonder if he panicked or someone near him did and took him under.

It is now being reported that there were no riptides in the area at the time:
Sheriff in Florida says Ryan Mallett’s drowning not a result of riptides

Your wife's sister Karen has a wife with a husband? How modern!

One Thanksgiving, when I lived in Fayetteville, Arkansas, my wife needed me to go to the convenience store to get something she needed for dinner. When I was in line for the checkout, a very tall guy got in line behind me. I recognised him. That year the Razorback Football team was actually good. I recognized the guy behind me as their quarterback. So I looked at him and said "Are you Ryan Mallet?"
He said "hahaha yeah".

How could you stand living in the second-most liberal city in Arkansas? (Bentonville is first.)

Cities are where democrats spend the money from their rich leftist benefactors. They establish machines in the cities where the centers of population are. That is how they try and gain control of the entire state and negate the wishes of the state as a whole.
I can't stand to live in my county, which is entirely controlled by a democrat machine. But I'm not going to move away. It is interesting to me that on one side of an arbitrary political boundary, all of the local and county elected positions are firmly held by democrats, and on the other side it is much more evenly divided. That is another reason that pushed me into getting involved in the effort to break that machine.
This was not a political post, but I must say you are very devout to your religion.
