Hunter Biden Reaches Plea Deal
In a plea arrangement announced by the Justice Department, Hunter Biden will plead guilty today to two misdemeanor charges of failing to pay taxes and is expected to reach an agreement on a third federal charge of illegally possessing a firearm while a drug user. He will receive probation on the tax charges and will undergo some form of drug rehab in connection with the weapons charge, at which point the charge would be dropped. No jail time is involved.
This pretty much dovetails with what I've said about Hunter Biden all along. He's a pathetic, low-level screwup who undoubtedly needs some form of drug treatment. But he's not a criminal mastermind, and he hasn't been charged in connection with any of the bribery or other allegations arising out of his dealings with Burisma or Ukrainian officials. And before any of the usual parties claim it's the typical two-tiered justice system at work, the US Attorney who signed off on this plea agreement is a Republican nominated by Donald Trump. The five-year investigation into Hunter Biden is at an end. And that's the extent of the Biden "crime family."

Hunter has also paid hundreds of thousands in taxes that he owed.
Apparently, profiting off a famous family name, even from overseas companies, isn’t illegal.

Seems like clear evidence of a two-tiered system of criminal justice.
It's hard to imagine any other private citizen who engaged in this paltry level of criminal activity being subjected to a five-year federal investigation. Or have I missed news of the criminal investigations into Donny's kids? --Bob

Re: Hunter Biden Reaches Plea Deal
BTW, when a new President from the other party takes office, it's customary for the sitting US Attorneys to resign and be replaced by the new President's choices. However, knowing that the US Attorney in Delaware had an active investigation of Hunter Biden going, Joe Biden kept him on to avoid any appearance of favoritism.
And the years for which Hunter Biden did not pay taxes were 2017 and 2018, when Trump was in office. Hunter Biden says his failure to do so was a result of his drug addiction at the time.

Re: Hunter Biden Reaches Plea Deal
So Hunter Biden took personal responsibility for his own actions instead of shouting "fake news", "witch hunt", "storm Washington" or "the judge is ethnic"? I guess that means he can't run for the GOP nomination for President of the United States.

Quick quiz: Which state's governor is a convicted criminal (the actual governor, not one of his sons), with the enthusiastic support of his very own fangirl right here on the Bored?
Let's face it. Hunter could have gotten the death penalty and you'd argue he got a break because he wasn't sentenced to having been drawn and quartered. --Bob

LMAO! You are especially stupid, given your legal training. Oh, wait...you still believe you didn't swear to uphold the laws of CA and the US, since you aren't a prosecutor, right? I gotta say, you probably missed a great opportunity there, as prosecutors in your neck of the woods apparently don't need to be particularly bright, as long as they have a (D) behind their name.Bob78164 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 8:57 pmQuick quiz: Which state's governor is a convicted criminal (the actual governor, not one of his sons), with the enthusiastic support of his very own fangirl right here on the Bored?

Tell me, Bob, if anyone with the Trump last name did exactly what Hunter did, you'd have been fine with the same outcome, right?

Re: Hunter Biden Reaches Plea Deal
Two different Republican US Attorneys under two different administrations spent five years investigating Hunter Biden for alleged money laundering, bribery, influencing a foreign government, and who knows what other charges. They came up with nothing other than a drug addict who didn't file tax returns two years and later repaid the money and didn't want to admit he was a drug addict when he applied for a firearms license. Hunter Biden is the first person in recorded history that Republicans are screaming wasn't prosecuted enough for gun law violations.
Do you really think that someone like Hunter Biden is that clever a criminal genius to hide all evidence of criminal wrongdoing? If not, then there are only two possibilities. First, Republican prosecutors going after alleged Democratic criminals are hopelessly inept (See: Durham, John as Exhibit 1 in that regard.) OR THERE'S NOTHING THERE TO FIND.
For the next 18 months, Republicans will continue these sham hearings that produce occasional fake headlines (the 17 tapes no one has heard that were supposedly in the possession of a dead witness) but no actual evidence of wrongdoing. That way they don't have to make any efforts at actual government. Meanwhile, Democrats will continue securing indictments and, pretty soon, convictions, against criminal Republcan politicians while keeping the country running (as with the disastrous PA interstate collapse that a Democratic governor using funds from the Biden infrastructure bill will fix in two weeks. A similar collapse here in Atlanta took three times longer to fix.)

It didn't take long for me to be proved right on this one.silverscreenselect wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 10:50 pmFor the next 18 months, Republicans will continue these sham hearings that produce occasional fake headlines (the 17 tapes no one has heard that were supposedly in the possession of a dead witness) but no actual evidence of wrongdoing.
The House Ethics Committee will begin an investigation of Adam Schiff, who was censured today for the "crime" of investigating Donald Trump while he was President. That censure will probably be a major boost to Schiff's campaign to be elected to the Senate in 2024. Unfortunately for them, the House Republicans couldn't censure the New York grand jury that indicted Trump on 34 felony counts or the Florida grand jury that indicted him on 37 felony counts or the New York trial jury that found Trump guilty of raping E. Jean Carroll.
Also today, John Durham testified about his four-year investigation into the FBI investigation of Donald Trump. That investigation yielded two not guilty verdicts in a matter of a few hours deliberation. Durham admitted that the FBI was justified in investigating Trump's alleged involvement in Russian collusion and that there was substantial evidence that Russia did interfere in the 2016 election. He only quibbled that the FBI shouldn't have launched that full scale of an investigation (this from a man who spent four years in his own investigation with zero results).

We obtained a July 30th, 2017, WhatsApp message from Hunter Biden to Henry Zhao, where Hunter Biden wrote: 'I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight. And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction. I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father,'" read the testimony.

Re: Hunter Biden Reaches Plea Deal
Assuming the message actually came from Hunter Biden (which we have no proof of), all it shows is that Hunter was a loudmouth who liked to throw his weight around (at a time when he was largely under the influence of drugs). Which we already knew. It's no evidence that Joe Biden (who was a private citizen at the time) was in the room or knew what Hunter was doing, and by itself, it's not sufficient to charge Hunter with any crimes. Again, the Republican US attorney investigated Hunter for five years and couldn't come up with evidence that would support an indictment for anything other than failing to file a tax return.

What's impressive is that he can write something like that without his brain exploding from his own hypocrisy. The same ability that keeps him from answering the question I have repeatedly asked him. He would then have to acknowledge the actual truth, which might have dire consequences. ADMITTING HE WAS WRONG????? Never! Or he could just write some lawyer BS to cover it up and change the subject. But I will let him keep going. Very entertaining.tlynn78 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 7:31 pmBob78164 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 5:00 pmLet me simplify this for you.silverscreenselect wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 4:47 pmAssuming the message actually came from Hunter Biden (which we have no proof of), all it shows is that Hunter was a loudmouth who liked to throw his weight around (at a time when he was largely under the influence of drugs).
