Mrs. Davis on Peacock

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Tue May 30, 2023 9:12 pm

I just finished the (eight-hour) miniseries Mrs. Davis on Peacock. This is one of those shows like Lost and Stranger Things that gets more bizarre as it goes along, and people will either love it or hate it. The title character is a highly evolved artificial intelligence that's sort of like Alexa on steroids. Most people have the app on their phones and let Mrs. Davis direct their lives with seemingly benign results, but a few suspect that Mrs. Davis isn't as benevolent as she seems. A nun named Sister Simone winds up going after Mrs.Davis in a storyline that includes a search for the actual Holy Grail. (Like in the Indiana Jones movie, the Grail is real.)

The entire series is bizarre, but in the last episode, they reveal just what Mrs. Davis is, and it turns out to be one of those jaw-dropping, unforgettable revelations along the lines of Charlton Heston discovering the Statue of Liberty at the end of Planet of the Apes (or his learning what Soylent Green is). I loved the show, but that ultimate reveal (which actually occurs at the beginning of the last episode) clinched it for me.

I'll have to check it out; thanks!
