I agree the questions are consistently at a higher level than the regular shows.
We are through episode 4. The "smack talk" and "play" between some of the constestants if fun to watch, especially when another contestant beats out Matea on a Canada question.

A new pop culture version of Jeopardy, called Pop Culture Jeopardy, will be on Amazon Prime Video next year. This show will have three three-person teams competing against each other in the familiar answer-and-question format. Categories will be music, movies, TV, sports, and all aspects of pop culture. Michael Davies will be the executive producer, but no host has been named yet.

Maybe they'll ask Mayim Bialik. That would work out well.

Looks like Michael Davies is ripping off his own previous show "The World Series of Pop Culture" which was on VH1

Got an email invite to audition for Pop Culture Jeopardy, so they're looking, folks! I can't audition, currently, so here's hoping they get a second season.

Was the email for you as a single person or were they trying to audition three-person teams? I would think they would want to use ready-made teams rather than pick three people at random to form a team.

I just came so I will just quickly that what I feel about the first two seasons fast.
that first season was crazy. every time I watch the episode I felt it past something I never thought it would pass. how lengthy my reviews were on the Jeopardy forum would definitely be a hint. of course he felt guilty of anticipation but it was there though there was an incident that I am surprised did not get censored. as I said about episode 4 over there, I actually believed he was going to be as well behaved as they goat tournament but that is obviously not coming true. I do have to give it to him every time I think he reaches the limit of craziness something more happens. (granted he did calm down a little bit over the course but considering how 'extreme' he was an episode 1 that is a low standard) of course James overshadowed everyone else which is a bad thing. definitely when we heard about Ken's later calling other people James by mistake after everything.
season 2 definitely fix this problem by giving James a personal competitor in yoghurt,he is in no better term high school rival. (well more like a rival he knew in high school) solidified the line between host and contestant. it is quite funny that both of the new people or people James already knows but I would say that this season did better in focussing on other contestants other than him though they were definitely other issues. I feel like some of the interviews were written not as well for others. One year I believe that something was wrong with choosing questions and thinking of "interesting material" contestant to contestant but two years I think there might an actual issue backstage with the interview questions. but everything was great,it was amazing.
mat had a few funny interviews particularly with the no making it rain money, his matter-of-fact humour is nice. Mateja has the masters near or during an anniversary of a loved one's passing based on the tape days given so that is an added variable. I wonder if Amy because she is kind of an advocate at this point ('kind of' means she does not have a official title, not relating to her Importance) does not have a lot of time to study for Jeopardy, still she got her win which is something that she wanted last season, I felt really sorry for her any time she was in the corner between Mat and Yogesh. it was almost like they could have removed the podium and no one will miss it. (guiltily these are the games I enjoyed the most because it was more 2 on 2, but this is less on my view of Amy and more on my enjoyment of competition) still it was nice to see her playing other games. like I said earlier they needed to have better questions for these to really connect with these contestants, you should not have to think a good 10 minutes to really remember other contestants. next time just have someone shuffle through the old game interviews and see the best ones. of course I am also excited Victoria won considering how few female popular champions they were. I remember two seasons ago looking at the goat tournament and seeing the final game from the 70s version and thinking they actually have a woman. I enjoy listening to Victorias interviews many times, I feel like it was a mixed bag but still more than most of the other contestants. I will even say some of them would be my personal preference rather than quality.
I will say we had some great game play, along with competition between contestants that really went beyond last season's. like I said in last year's thing "having everyone be in a level which the cadence of the game works is important too."
