I applied mrkelley23’s fixes to my last consolidation. As he pointed out, five duets are all that’s missing. The John Sebastian match can also be made with 42 or 79, if 57 is needed for a different match.

Approaching it from a different angle, what other "Johns" are still out there? Apart from John Sebastian, I'm hard pressed to think of many.

John Cafferty?
Jon Bon Jovi (did he ever record anything under that name?)
Jon Anderson (ditto?)
John Oates (Did he ever record solo?)
Johnny Ace?

I used to have access to a wonderful site called top40db.net that had an excellent search engine and a pool of only songs that appeared on one of the major charts in the Billboard era. It helped me make so many of my LSWE games, but it was clearly abandoned by its host sometime in the early 2010's and two years ago shut down for good. The only site I've found that even comes close to replacing it has a pool with a lot of garbage songs and clearly has a lot of holes pre-80's.

I'm pretty sure I could round up most, if not all of those final matches with the old website... but instead I'm spinning my wheels trying to match anything up. I can't even find any song that contains the words "Broadway" or "Lullaby" that was recorded by a John-anything....

Jon Bon Jovi has several solo albums, including the song “Queen of New Orleans” that Frank could have used in this game but didn’t.

Further search reveals this nugget: “Boogaloo Down Broadway” by The Fantastic Johnny C. Too bad we already got nine good trios.

I found the Queen of New Orleans song too last night, but figured it was a coincidence.

I'm not as convinced that Boogaloo Down Broadway is a coincidence as that fits too well and takes care of THREE of our unused songs. We might have to further scrutinize the trios we already have, as this game has already yielded a few unintentional matches of otherwise throwaway songs... (Edit: it was a Top 10 hit. That song HAS to be valid)

That's too good not to be in here. I would remove the Johnny Gill trio (Frank's not fond of too-short words) and put that one in, which would free up three other songs.

Is it possible that Frank is using Jack as a nickname for John? If so, we could get Lonely Teardrops and All I Need (Jack Wagner) in there.

Well, I've never referred to a bathroom as The Jack before..... but it is another variation on John! And validates another song I initially found (Though once I had the theme, I really wanted The Commod[e]ores to be right, too).

And if I've pieced everything together right, that just leaves 23 and 79, which screams WELCOME BACK despite the inclusion of three other songs with BACK.

Are we done?

That was a strange oversight on my part. But if you've used all the songs, you can consider it done. And well done!

Can someone explain what has to happen to finish this one. What's missing? Is it a duet made from these two unused titles?

57. BABY COME BACK
79. THERE'S NOTHING HOLDIN' ME BACK

How does Welcome fit into it?

We really need to finish this.

Welcome to My Nightmare is matched with either Baby Come Back or There’s Nothing Holding Me Back. That means one song is still unused.

Since I screwed this up by inadvertently including two 'Back' songs, it's only fair to tell you that #57 is unused and it goes with a song (and word) already matched. The song and artist are among the more obscure, but he did have a lot of hits in the 1950s and this particular song got as high as #8.
