Not a surprise.

The DVD by Mail service ends September 29, 2023-per an email.

When Netflix started, it was an alternative to those who didn't want to pay Blockbuster rental fees, which added up over a month's time. I'm surprised they kept the mail service going as long as they did, considering that Redbox is in every grocery store around.

What I am sad about is that my source for a lot of the older type movies that I like will be gone.

For example, the Spocklette and I were on a Howard Hawks kick a couple of years ago and they were only available on DVD through Netflix, not through their streaming service.

They are really going to have to step up their streaming options-for example, I checked on the Terminator series last night and it is only available on DVD through there.

Not sure about what other movie services exist for the older type movies (using Howard Hawks as the example) that I like.

Justwatch.com and reelgood.com will tell you which streaming services, if any, have a particular movie. Amazon's Freevee and Tubi TV have a lot of older movies (most with some commercials). TCM.com has lots of older movies you can stream while they're on playing rotation on the channel. Each film is usually available for a month or so, but they rotate frequently.
