going on vacation

#1 Post by earendel » Fri Apr 14, 2023 8:24 am

Elwing and I will be leaving for a 22-day European vacation starting tomorrow. We will be touring Iceland, Holland, Denmark, Norway, Scotland, and England. This means that I must send my regrets to the Director of Promos for not participating in Slamboree this year.

Is it truly "vacation" when you're retired? I would just say "I'm going on a trip." as I'm on permanent vacation. :P

Enjoy! It sounds like a wonderful itenerary. I like that you included Iceland.

Iceland seems to be a fairly common destination among people that I know. Trips there are common, even if that is the only place they go.

Anybody that mentions Lutefisk is good in my book.

Tough to beat good lutefisk-nice flaky chunks of fish jello-yummy good.

Bad lutefisk, OTOH, is really bad. I have had some that was frozen in the middle-almost enough to put me off lutefisk-but, not quite.

Actually, from what I have heard-Lutefisk isn't really a thing in Norway anymore-more common in the Norwegian settlement belt in MN, ND-etc

Ook. Being half Norwegianish there we had that crap every Christmas. It's disgusting. Lefse, however, is great.
Well, then

"Well, I'm back."

it was a wonderful trip - unfortunately some of the things we wanted to see were unavailable - Westminster Abbey was closed in preparation for the coronation (which happened the day we left London) and Oxford was an epic fail.

FWIW, Iceland was included in our trip because it is much less expensive to fly Iceland Air and stop in Iceland than to fly directly to any destination in Europe.
