Lyrically Speaking - 1/20/23

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Thu Jan 19, 2023 11:45 pm

One of the songs below is significant for some reason. To know why, you'll have to figure out the theme of this game. But that will be worth the trouble as it's a hefty 10 points if you can identify the money song!

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 10 points for the key song....

1. Out on the streets, that's where we'll meet
You make the night, I always cross the line

2. I'll tell ya
You can put me out
On the street
Put me out
With no shoes on my feet
But put me out, put me out
Put me out of misery, yeah

3. There's still so much for me to do
And I can't stop loving you
Oh, can this be true?

4. Well the truck stop cutie comin' on to me,
Tried to talk me into a ride
Said I wouldn't be sorry

5. Singing from heartache from the pain
Taking my message from the veins
Speaking my lesson from the brain
Seeing the beauty through the... pain

6. Though I keep searching for an answer
I never seem to find what I'm looking for
Oh Lord, I pray you give me strength to carry on

7. The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
And the sky with no clouds

8. She's a real individual
One of a dying breed
Everything she's got
Right now is
All she'll ever need

9. 'Cause I'm leavin' in the morning
And I must see you again
We'll have one more night together

10. Ain't found a way to kill me yet
Eyes burn with stinging sweat
Seems every path leads me to nowhere

11. Now you're messin' with a
(A son of a bitch) now you're messin' with a son of a bitch

12. Begging mercy for their sins
Satan laughing, spreads his wings
Oh lord, yeah!

Which of these songs is the significant one?

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that would fit the theme of the game.

Image Bonus: I really hope you've figured this one out...

Hey! Look at me being first up!!!1

Took me FOREVER to figure out what was causing the ISE and it was my extraneous comment to my ONE joke answer, so you'll have to figure it out for yourself

2. I'll tell ya
You can put me out
On the street
Put me out
With no shoes on my feet
But put me out, put me out
Put me out of misery, yeah

Beast of Burden - Rolling Stones

As a die hard stoner, it hurts me to say this, but I think I might actually prefer the Bette Midler version...

3. There's still so much for me to do
And I can't stop loving you

Don't Forget Me When I'm Gone - Glass Tiger

No sir, you won't find any parentheticals here, no way! No how!

4. Well the truck stop cutie comin' on to me,
Tried to talk me into a ride
Said I wouldn't be sorry

Driving My Life Away - Eddie Rabbitt

I think I've already used the Fun Fact of him dying on my birthday, so howabout this one? I actually saw him in concert once, he was opening for Conway Twitty. Yes, Conway Twitty! I managed to see him sometime in between Alice Cooper and David Bowie...

5. Singing from heartache from the pain
Taking my message from the veins
Speaking my lesson from the brain
Seeing the beauty through the... pain

Believer - Imagine Dragons

6. Though I keep searching for an answer
I never seem to find what I'm looking for
Oh Lord, I pray you give me strength to carry on

Here I Go Again - Whitesnake

7. The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
And the sky with no clouds

Horse with No Name - America

I was going to use this as a krox a few days ago until Blind Melon came into my head...

8. She's a real individual
One of a dying breed
Everything she's got
Right now is
All she'll ever need

Billy Don't Be a Hero

Which of these songs is the significant one? OK, so I did this backward. I was going to chew you out for making me figure out a theme with only three songs. But what the heck, I had a rabbit, horse, and monkey, so I could at least get a good image. So I typed rabbit, horse, and monkey into google, forgetting to put it on Images instead of All. Nevertheless, the image below is the first thing that came up. So theme is the Chinese zodiac, and #4 is significant because it's the year of the rabbit! Thank you, Edward Hare!

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that would fit the theme of the game.

There's a year of the dog, and I guarantee there's nothing by Doris Day. So: How much is that doggie in the window, Doris Day.

War Pigs - Black Sabbath

Which of these songs is the significant one?

#4, because this game was about the Chinese Zodiac and this weekend marked the beginning of the Year of the Rabbit! As shocked as I was that so many people got my Na-Na game, I was equally surprised how many people knee-jerked this one as a generic animals game. Timing is everything....

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that would fit the theme of the game.

Because of the wide crossover between the actual theme and the generic one, it made the accepting or rejecting of Kroxes and Image Bonuses for those who missed the theme a bit tricky. If you think yours should have been accepted and your score doesn't reflect it, feel free to state your case...

Image Bonus: I really hope you've figured this one out...

This may be the first time I have ever awarded the Image Bonus Bonus to someone who didn't know the game's theme.... but mrk's weird cat experiment (Thank Fanny for educating me on Year of the Cat) is my winner!

Hey! I did not cheat! I typed in the animals for image purposes, and the theme came up!

You are on notice that I will continue to use this method for future theme games. Not that it will do any good . . .
-- In Iroquois society, leaders are encouraged to remember seven generations in the past and consider seven generations in the future when making decisions that affect the people.
-- America would be a better place if leaders would do more long-term thinking. -- Wilma Mankiller
